SE's next announcement will include this one
Direwolf_65, 28 Jul 2008It comes in 3 colors too.yup, the one with red looks gorgeous.
Michel, 27 Jul 2008You're absolutely right. By the way, I'm not stating that it's a "bad" interface per se, just ... moreHad 2 Nokia's, was not impressed with them either. So I tried Samsung 737 I was very disappointed in. Did not like the OS on the phone, it seemed that it was over simplified, could not do as much as I could on a Sony. For a slider it did not have 'spring assist' like the Sony W580. If you moved the phone or sit it down foe a sec, it would shut and hang up on the caller. It would slide off of my leg, and hit the end and cut off. Not so with the Sony W810. Now I am forced
to use the Sony W580, because of my carrier. Besides Sony has always come with everthing you need, earbuds, USB cord, etc. all the other phones I had has not. Not as good a camera as my W810, the Walkman does work very good. But for what it is, it is a nice phone, works very well. My wife had the W710, she wore the rubber buttons down on the sides, from putting it in her bag, dropped several times, now my oldest son is using it. You could not get her to use something other than Sony either. Even had the Moto Q, I took it back for alot of reasons to. Funny that you can can get oprea mini 4 to work better on a cell phone but oprea 8 sucks on a smart phone, go figure. I'm just used to my W810 and I am looking for a good replacement for it, maybe the K850, or the W902. Just have to wait to see which one I can afford.
Michel, 27 Jul 2008You're absolutely right. By the way, I'm not stating that it's a "bad" interface per se, just ... moreWell all you had to do is ask what my opinion was of SE phones compaired to other phones.
The RAZR was one of the worst built phones I ever had, dropped it out of my shirt pocket when I bent over, it fell about 3 ft. The out side screen stopped working, also it kept dropping calls after having it replaced 3 times. Nice concept, bad phone.
My Sony W600 was a great phone, and I put it through hell. Used the Walkman every day at work, took loads of pics with it, dropped it on concrete at work upwards of 4 times, all it done was get scratched never dropped calls, never stopped working. Just did not like the internet button on the outside, I would hit it by mistake and it would be on for hours before I would know it. Yes I know it had a lock button on it but we make mistakes to. I miss that phone. :-)
The Sony W810 went through pretty much the same. Even dropped it down some concrete steps, bounced down 3 of them before I stopped it, just bugged up the outside. Can't use it no more, because I changed carriers. Loved that phone too.
Let's all be cautious with our opinion regarding the over-all look of the W902 until we see it in real life. Cause when i first saw the W890 in picture i thought the design is so-so. But when i actually saw it, it does look good especially the one in espresso black.
very nice phone! well designed and a lot of functions. I would have liked to see a larger display though...still,it's the best walkman phone so far!

Hey...... this is amazing...But i got a big...prob.......I already used many walkman Phones....Soooo as some others say.., i saw the problem of sound....Every walkman phon's sound may lowly hear after using such a period....Sooo give me the solution.....Is this phone also got this......prob,,,?(firstname.lastname@example.org)
what's funny, michel, is that you persist to entertain so-called subjective opinions with your "objectivity". don't frustrate yourself because winning the argument won't necessarily change a person's mind. i personally like both nokia and sony ericsson and so know that the personal user-experience of each one is what builds the loyalty.
I want a slim sturdy phone with a 5 megapixel auto focus camera, I want to listen to music with my a2dp headset via the phone, I can't use a Samsung... (langauge issues but I also not fond of the interface) So... Nokia? Well no, their phones are too big for me, HTC Diamond? Well only the P3702 version that sold exclusively in taiwan the P3700 version has a bad built quality.
So what's left? LG KF755 or SE W902.
I think the W902 is nicer to use.

Yes, I do come over as arrogant, but there's a very good reason for that: I feel it can spice up a discussion. The people who can see through that, like you, still counter my arguments with valid replies, and I enjoy reading them. I have become aware of forums being more and more unrelated to the subject, with personal teardowns and stupid questions; therefore I decided to see what my initial comment would do in this forum.
I commend you for being one of few people who actually tells me what he thinks without constantly claiming that SE is fabulous, but not giving any feedback on that statement.
One thing, though: yes, I do know how this phone works, and how it is. All seperate series of phones (Nokia Nseries, Nokia S40, every Samsung, all SE's on the Walkman platform, etc. etc.) pretty much work the same, with some minor differences. If you can use a N95, you can use a N78; if you can use a samsung F400, you can use a Samsung D900.
This phone is not going to have any revolutionary tech in it, so I can conclude that it will work pretty much the same as a W910i.
SE is not my thing, and I'm entitled to that opinion as much as you are entitled to yours, and I respect that. As for the comment on the English language, I'm a true language freak, and the rape that the language is going through annoys the hell out of me. Personal tic, can't help it. I agree it was a bit too confrontational though.
Thanks for your solid reply.
Michel, 27 Jul 2008Thank you Dani, for giving some points that one can use. I don't agree on the interface bit, '... moreIt's a bad interface because they haven't changed it in four years? That statement seems to contradict itself. They haven't changed it because there's no need to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Change for the sake of change can only be a bad thing.
As for SE having devout followers - I can think of one reason only. Everyone I know who has used an SE has been exceptionally happy with it. And most of them switched from other brands. SE offer reliability, ease of use and great functionality. Most of the higher end SE's do almost everything. Depending on the series it'll perform brilliantly in one particular area, and acceptably, but not astoundingly, in the other areas - example being the walkman phones; great music experience, decent but not wonderful cameras. The reason SE have such devout fans is that they've earned them. Perhaps other brands don't provide such satisfaction. From personal experience I know that my nokias were too unreliable and I found the menu layouts of Samsungs and motorolas too clunky, but that's a personal choice.
Direwolf stated that he wasn't gonna put down the iPhone coz he's not used it and that likewise, you should do the same with SE. And fair enough, people like you, me and Direwolf know a bit about phones, but there are plenty of people out there who don't - these are the people Direwolf was referring to when talking about people coming here to learn.
You do make a lot of intelligent points but there's something else you bring to these forums in abundance - arrogance, nobody likes it. Your comment about the English language in particular indicates your overdeveloped sense of your own importance...
