Kindly tell me, how to turn on the front camera in this w960i. Guys!!!! Please let me know this. I just bought this mobile
dudes i got a qs man...i heard the W910i and it wasant loud at all!! the head fones so is this alos not so loud...coz i need loud!! is it loud or not as loud as the W850i and the ipod??
Maybe I can provide u some hints on making decision of taking iPhone or remain using W960i, since I'm iPhone user.
I'll say there are Pro & Cons for each phone, which like what Dani said, really not easy to get a perfect phone.
Sound wise, I think W960i should be better especially the loud speaker... iPhone speaker is lousy, even worst than my previous phone, P910i. but when plug in headset, its quite good... btw, bare in mind that, iPhone ringtone can only assign those download from iTunes Stores, so far I check through so many forums about iPhones and still didn't saw any other way to put our own mp3 as ringtone. *sad... T.T
Function wise, I personally not agree with Dani, where "iPhone is functionless". Just that, it has a very wide verity of choice of 3rd party s/w waiting for you to download (need $$) and installed. If u only compare the s/w come with phone then maybe it may not good enough... Generally, I think iPhone is better on this point.
Camera wise, definitely W960i better. iPhone camera is 2mp (not sure with or without auto focus, seems like build in), without any single mode (night/outdoor/indoor...etc), without zoom, without flash, without anything!! all you can do is press the capture button.
Touchscreen wise, definitely iPhone better. Color very nice (this point is also due to the Mac OS), and its big (3.5 inch)... very nice color...
Connection wise, Wi-Fi quite easily detected... but I don't know why, I compare with my colleague's N95, when turn on bluetooth, his N95 detected 7-8 device from diff device like nokia, SE..etc but my iPhone detect nothing. (We test in office)
OS wise, in my opinion, symbian is more suitable for a smartphone, not powerful enough for a PDA phone. W960i is a bit laggy, taking quite long to turn on (more than 5sec when i test at a phone shop). iPhone very smooth, fast & steady.
iPhone got 1 thing I'm not sure whether is my phone problems or what, the heat on the top area (somewhere on the earphone there) it easily get heated on that area...
Above is all my opinion, no offense... and I'm not work for either Sony Ericsson or iPhone. No profit gained...
why shud i hav to buy a screen protecter just because i used se stylus??They knew it was going to be used as such so why not make it scratchproof,my p910i is 3yrs old and screen is fine.I am really peeved at moment
For foreign characters, download the chinese language and install from pc suite.. im not sure where to get the languages, i want japanese, but i cant see where to download them from, which is a problem...
You can get clock screen saver applications, that are pretty good e.g. digital, analogue, even binary clocks.
Actually, I'm in the process of making some themes for the phone. When they're done, I'll post an announcement here saying where you can download them from. Also, if you can find any themes for the W950 of the P1, they'll work with the W960...
Not sure about the rest of your issues but i know you can change the themes. Go to main menu/tools/control panel/device. you'll find the theme options there.
It only solves one of your concerns but I hope it helps...
hi.. I just got a w960... it is absolutely wondering, (speed, battery, user frdly, web surfing.. etc)
the problem i have is i cant read chinese characters for my music in walkman... i dont really care about chinese in the rest of the phone... but i do want to see what song im listening to... any help here would be great.
As an old SE user, coming from Z600, V630i, W800i and now W960i, I find SE products are very attractive, relaiable. Now with the my new W960i for a week, i have explored every bit and piece of it and can sum it up to the following:
Missing utilities (available in W800i)Desktop Remote Control, Light, Code memo, Clock (when screen save is active), Profiles (office, Quite, etc), Themes.
Missing SMS features are no SMS predefined templates, no customized templates option. Also, the SMS icon does not change when you read an SMS (un like W800, where the icon turns to an open envelop once you read an SMS).
Walkman, greate features, however, the MegaBass effect is much lower than that of the W800i (very frustrating issue).
I can easily say that all other features mentioned in this product are great,(Wireless LAN, Bi-Lingual HandWriting recognition, Connectivity options and plenty other features.
If someone knows how to fill the gaps (the missing stuff mentioned above)please share with me.
Price maybe also a reason why someone would take W960 over a N95, and also Touchscreen.
We can just leave this at personal preference and budget i guess.
Yep some exciting stuff coming eh! Im very interested in that NOKIA TOUCH UI.
But im still set on getting my N82 sooner than i think hehe. . .
@Nick, i am interested to see nokias touch screens too. I am not a fanboy of anything, i had a nokia n73, so id like to see what they have to offer. I wonder which UI it will be similar to... im thinking fromt the rumours it will be a cross between UIQ and the iphone interface.
Although I am looking forward to SEs offereings next year, and dont forget about LG!
But i thnik Samsung are targeting the midrange handsets, with good camera and thin design.
Motorola: keep dieing? or surge back with a UIQ 3 phone ;).
But for now the W960i will certainly suffice me.
yeah dani wait til nokia release their touch phones. they are multi touch, but just engineered differently to the iphones one, so they dont infringe the copyright.
gna be awesome.
iPhone wins with the touchscreen but its featureless
N95 8GB is Great but it lacks touchscreen
W960i is in the Middle good in Features and Has Half Touchscren
No Phone is Perfect
What you have told is true but in battery cover there is gap B/W battery and battery cover. “THIS IS EVERGREEN PHONE”
Maybe your W960 is a faulty unit, i remember when testing it did not get any scratches and the battery cover was fine, very solid phone in my opinion.
Where did you buy yours?
i have had this phone for about a month and i wouldn't consider changing it for an iphone just because your display got a scratch(my screen has no scratches maybe you hit it with something.. i dont really know) and the cover has a little creaking sound.
i must say that mine has that sound too and i know it's quite annoying but it's something we can bear anyways something i did to my phone to stop that sound is to put a little piece of paper on the edge of the back and then put the cover so it doesnt make that sound anymore and i must say that now the phone feels really good...why don't you try that before thinking of changing the phone?? maybe it works!! like it worked for me
And the N95...
I didn't even consider it to be honest. I never liked Nokia's UI, and that phone looks pretty chunky.
Despite all of the better features and specs...
I have had my phone for about a month now, I just noticed a scratch on the screen. I am uncertain whether it was caused by the stylus or by my fingernail (sometimes I'm too lazy to use the stylus). I have since put on a protective film over the screen, but it scratches easy and quickly.
Anyways, the battery cover makes a creaking/squeaking noise also which is quite annoying at times.
I considered getting an iPhone before choosing the w960, and I can't say I wont eventually sell this phone and get an iPhone.
The build quality of the iPhone is far superior; large glass screen & anodized aluminum casing versus small plastic screen & plastic casing on the w960.
As a music player, the iPhone is basically an iPod, so it's just as good as the Walkman if not better.
I have a Macbook also, which probably would have made syncing the iPhone w/ my laptop a lot easier than with the w960.
But the 3.2mp camera is real nice on the w960, and I find myself using it a lot! The Macro mode is great, although the dual LED flash is a little lacking as a "fill flash" if the situation ever arises.
Opera 8.5 is an okay browser, a bit slow even on wifi connection. Let's just say I hope Opera 9 is as good as the iPhone's safari browser.
