How's the camera in this phone? I've been using Sony P1i and I'm thinking of buying this phone. Do you think it's better than P1i? My main concern is about the image quality of the phone. :) Thanks.

Bought this yesterday, upgrading from my 3 year old W200. Happy with the sound, screen quality and looks a stunner.
The bad...
- The CPU is rather laggy in my opinion; the W902 which I tested but didn't buy due to build issues has alot more zippy. compared to the W980.
- The phone overall is a FINGERPRINT MAGNET.
- The camera, in one word, CRAP. Not bad, but CRAP. I did consider W902 for this reaason, but didn't expect the W980 to have such bad quality in this area. Videos show alot of artifacts, which again is disappointing.
- Came across some firwmare bugs, but all I need to do is to turn off and turn back on. Am running the latest firmware BTW.
All in all, I was after a music-minded phone, the W980 doesn't disappoint in regards to sound quality. The firmware bugs are copable, but still I think they can be further improved. And the camera... Sony should at least consider a different processing alorthym for the images since as it is now, it is unacceptable that a once flag-ship model to have such bad camera quality.

Hi, Sony Ericsson W980 users! I saw this phone has pre-installed Google Maps. Can we delete the pre-installed Google Maps by pressing Clear button like if we want to delete some pictures or ringtones (if the files are not protected)?

This was an awesome fone! I love the design, features, as in the whole package. For me, it was the best fone I've ever had since I've used Samsung, Nokia and Motorola.

nic design,
love the clampshell design
but the quality suck like hell
the camera have been put in the wrong position
not a camera phone..
keypad suck
sound quality of the speaker not good enough,n cant compete wit other phone
se should done a better phone

I have a w595 and w980 which I'm using now.
Based on my observations the W595 has louder and better speaker quality compared to the w980. However if you're using the supplied earphones for the two models, W980 has better sound quality due to the earphone material and equalizer presets (for me Clear Bass is better than MegaBass). Also, i've noticed that the w980 has a brighter display.
The w980 is almost the same as the w595 in terms of internet connectivity, SMS, battery life etc...
The speakers of the w980 isn't a big deal for me since when I bought the phone, it came with a free MPS-80 speaker which has great bass and sound quality.
