I have heard and read so many different opinions about the proper charging of Li-Pol batteries that I gonna be sick. What I do is I completely charge it according to the way I have described and then use it until the red light starts blinking. Then before I plug the charger I turn the phone off, then plug the charger and again charge it accordingly the way I described :) I hope you followed me :D
helper you amazing!!that's the exact same thing that happend when i first got my phone, charged it at 12 then woke up at 6 for work and it showed 88% and still charging!!!

the whole cycle thing of letting them discharge then fully charging them is murder for the batteries
davie, 05 Jun 2010so helper is my phone normal then? that when you charge it say about 4hours then green lights ... moreOne thing I remembered about charging during night is that I left the phone to charge in the evening around 11 pm and when I woke up in the next morning 7 am the Battery Indicator showed that only 88% of the battery was full and it was charging...So my guess is that when you leave your phone to charge for a long time, it somehow consumes power A LOT if you do not unplug it (it does not make any sense).
Definitely the phone had not charged from 7% or so to only 88% in some 8 hours. So the conclusion from my experience is that if you leave your X10 to charge for a long time it begins to discharge very quickly after reaching 100%. Unfortunately I do not know how long the phone has to be plugged in as of fully charged in order it to begin discharging and when the phone starts charging again.
If I charged the phone during the night and the above described happened, my phone lasted only about 24 hours. But charging accordingly to my shared way, I can get about 75 hours of phone life. Great improvement in my opinion. For example since my last charging the phone is unplugged for 19 hours and the Battery Indicator shows that I have 93% of battery still left :)
davie, 05 Jun 2010so helper is my phone normal then? that when you charge it say about 4hours then green lights ... moreI would say that it is normal that your phone does that (as mine does it as well). But in the big picture (compared to my previous phone experience) I would say that it´s not quite normal....I hope that you understood my point.
It is annoying, but in case you want the maximum power out of your X10 then I would not recommend to leave it to charge for indefinite time (f.e during night while you are sleeping and cannot unplug it after it is full).
Yet, as I explained in my earlier post, then you should not unplug it immediately after the green light goes off, but only after that the "overvoltage" has disappeared. In order to know it, you have to install Battery Indicator program...

How much a seconh handed Xperia X10 will cost in India? Is there any body there to sell it?
so helper is my phone normal then? that when you charge it say about 4hours then green lights goes off and you leave it for another 1hour or so then green lights back up cause the battery dropped a few percentage then???

davie, 05 Jun 2010hi, just bought a new x10 about a week ago and am not sure if i found a fault in the phone or ... moreIn order to make your life easier I just post it once more:
Hello dear X10-owner-who-have-battery-issue,
I deem it important to share with all of you my findings in regard of poor battery, actually in regard of how to improve its performance.
1) Buy yourself another micro-USB charger. I do not know the reason, but the one which came with the phone does not do the trick (read: does not work with my following findings). The one I bought for example is Nokia charger.
2) Download from the market an application named Battery Indicator. Its a application, which shows the percentage of remaining battery, but also unplugged time, temperature and voltage of the battery.
3) If you are charging the X10 with your NEW charger then do not unplug it when the charging indicator in the upright corner of the phone turns of and the Battery Indicator shows 100%.
IT IS IMPORTANT that when your battery reaches 100% and the Battery Indicator says "overvoltage" keep charging until the "overvoltage" disappears. It takes approximately 45 minutes until the "overvoltage" disappears since the battery level has reached 100%.
Other thing I have noticed that leaving the phone charging for too long (f.e for a night) makes the battery drain faster. Thereof, it is important to disconnect the phone practically immediately after the "overvoltage" has disappeared.
Doing according to the above said has improved my battery life a lot. Before discovering such way of charging, I had to charge my phone in every 24 hours (I use GPRS a lot for playing World War and iMobsters). No I can do with one charging approximately twice as much :)
Also I use TasKille (not Advanced Task Killer or any other similar programs). I find TasKiller to be most effective (but it may be a matter of taste as well).
And those who use GPRS a lot, an application named APNdroid is really useful. When I am not using it, I can turn it of my tapping on an APNdroid widget on home screen. And when I need it, I can just as easily turn it on again.
I hope that you find the information useful :)
