The companies DO make an absurd amount off of you. And to a certain extent you KNOW this going in. The main goal of these companies id to make money and YOU are just shoveling it over. A little self discipline folks. If your plan includes oh let's ay 500 daytime minutes and 500 txt...dont go over. it's not an impossible thing to ask, just take responsibilty for your actions and police yourself a little beforehand instad if whining about it afterwards.
Try to imagine that for everything your cellphone can do, the communications companies got there WAAAAYY before you and found ways to charge you for doing everything, and will try and goad you into doing it more!!!
I myself have 2 cellphones, both pay as you go and both have been sitting on my countertop for about 4 months, I'm as social as the next person, but i can be social without putting myself in the poorhouse to do so. i've seen people run their bills as high as $7000, my god in heavan people...just a bit of common sense is all i'm trying to preach here folks.

Text Messages -- 6,500% Markup
Text messages are short, quick and cheap to transmit. So why are they adding so much to your wireless bill?
The messages are such a tiny piece of data that they cost carriers only about one-third of a cent to deliver, according to computer scientist Srinivasan Keshav, who testified before U.S. senators on the issue last summer.
But on a pay-per-text plan, the 160-character messages typically cost 20 cents outgoing and 10 cents incoming. That's a markup of as much as 6,500%. OMG!
"It's pretty much pure profit," Keshav says. "Carriers would argue they put that money toward investing in new technology."
Even if customers sign up for an unlimited texting plan for, say, $10 a month, carriers are still cashing in considering that their overhead is basically $0. That's a lot to pay for a few LOLs.
Just a word for all the cell users, since there is no exact place to put a post like this. i work for a large comunications company, and you upeople make me want to laugh and cry all at the same time. You yak yak yak all bloody day on your cells, burn up your minutes, txt till your thumbs bleed, run your charges through the roof...and then have the nerve to call me up and YELL at ME for YOUR inability to control yourself. Why is my bill so high, why am i getting charged for text mesages,I gave my teeneger a cellphone without thinking of the consequences of their inevetable actions, i cant afford all this.....
I have two simple words that will help you manage your cellphone bills...
you honestly DO NOT need to be in communication with everyone you've ever known, every minute of every day.
STOP TALKING...turn the cellphone off, put the cellphone DOWN and step away with your hands in the air. go be out of communication for a few hours a day...it's good for you!!!
Stick to your big brother,it's not safe here!!!
