I have been using this phone for a year.
Love this phone so much.the functions are awesome.I do have problems where i does shut down automatically but when i just leave it shut for an hour or two its back to normal.
Im using the gold plated and its still look new and elegant.

Loved this phone for the first 6 months and now I feel like I'm having to get it replaced every week! First one ended up getting major software problems, the second one shut off randomly all the time and while it could make calls people couldn't hear me and same thing again with the third. Signing an extra long contract for the price break was a terrible idea.

hi dirtiwhiteboi check GSM ARENA's review of the W710 http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_e...view-124.php the camera is exactly the same as the Z710i, see if the sample pictures look like yours.
If yours are much worse quality chances are you have a software bug or faulty camera... try flashing the handset again

oh yeah, before i forget to mention, i bought this item used and it is unbranded and unlocked - i have no idea if there was maybe something done (or UNdone) in the unlocking process that may be a contributing factor to the crappy camera performance... the images are just grainy as all get-out and some streaks through the middle at times, depending upon backlighting, etc.

hey all - i just bought this phone after having done all my research (or so i thought)... the rave reviews that people have given this phone are what landed me on the decision to purchase it, but i am sorry to say that i personally think the camera (or at least the camera in MY unit) 'sucks out loud'.
in comparison i get similar quality, if not better, photo images from my Nextel/Moto i850 which is a VGA cam which is a sub-1MP. i recently had an i880 that was superior in image quality with a 2MP as well. perhaps there are some sort of settings that could be adjusted or maybe flashed? ...i dunno'.
i have been at my wit's end tryng to figure out what phone i wanna' get for my upcoming 'end-of-contract' event thru Nextel... thinking i would love to go with GSM - preferrably EDGE also, but this recent trial & error run i've been having is getting confusing.
my youngest niece just got a Razr the other day & i was amazed at the hi-quality images it takes... this is sort of leaning me (now) toward a Razr purchase myself. i have been researching the V3x, and whereas the reviews (for the most part) on this site are tales of bugs & self-thinking hardware, i am still impressed with the complete package that the phone has to offer (not to mention 2-way video calling).
a GOOD, hi-MP camera & clamshell design are very important to me and i'd like to find one that delivers all the goods, without trying every one on the market, only to have the final one be outdated by time i decide - lol.
at any rate, i am extremely pleased with the menus and the flash screensavers & desktop themes in general, as well as the MP3 performance of this item. the free-floating MP3 controls on the face of the phone are ba little 'clicky' if you get too into your music, but all in all, it's a great little clamshell.
i was recently checking out an article wherein it was mentioned that a possibility to change firmware from Z710i to W710i was attainable thru XS, but i am unable to get this phone to be recognized/connected with XS for whatever reason.
if anybody might be able to shed some light on the sub-standard imaging of this item, i certainly would appreciate the feedback & input. i can be contacted here: dirtiwhiteboi @ gmail . com.

i got this phone for almost a year. love the features and guys..try to check www.zedge.com to download more cute themes, wallpapers and tones. i love changing my themes from time to time.. as if i was dressing up my phone. for sure you will enjoy,appreciate and love your phone forever. SE rules!

Everytime I charge my phone I get an alien battery charging log. On top of that my battery life runs out fast from full to half to epmty. Does anyone else have this problem? Is my phone defective?

I think it's still one of the best cameras you can get on a flip phone currently. Heck, the Z710 is one of the best flip phones!
Anyone notice the cool fading squares animation that displays on the blue external screen when you're in a call? Nice touch. I wish there was a way you could get that to play at other times too, like a screensaver.

This is definitely a good quality phone and the camera is really, really good for a cell phone. People are always commenting on how good the pictures it takes are. I agree that it is not the best looking phone, though.. lol but it's nice if you're just looking for something simple that works good and takes nice pictures.

this is one of the greatest phone i ever have. over all i give it 9/10. there are however some cons.
-not so good looking (it depend on how u judge)
-headset not comfortable
-need the headset for FM
-camera need to work in the light enough place
-cannot set mp3 as ringtone and alarm tone
no more. all others are pros.
like,
-good music player (i put my ipod away now)
-speaker is good
-easy to use
-work with computer well
-keyboard is comfortable
-can have fun with the phone
.......so much good things

no, no, NO!! you don't need any software trash to put mp3 ringtones on this phone! you just need to remove the operator restrictions or flash the phone! how many more times!?

I bought this phone after I decided that my next phone has to be a clamshell with fairly good music functionality with radio and camera. That was my main requirement and since SE is so famous of it's music capability so i decided to switch to SE after few years of being a nokia fan.
And of course i did all of the possible research and calculating on all of the SE clamshell =) the result? out of the 4 SE clamshell (z750, w710, z710, w300) that has camera, music function with radio, i think this is the best (at least for my needs). Sure it doesn't has 3g like z750 and it doesn't has walkman player like its brother or w300i but it has nice and durable metallic design unlike its brother and the external screen is bigger than z750 and both display is bigger than w300. When comparing this phone with w300 i thought i can't tolerate with the poor camera and small display of w300. And when i actually go out to survey these 4, i notice the shiny finish of z750 prone to have fingerprints all over it the very first time i touch it which surprisingly annoying (to me).
Anyway, I eventually end up with this phone, bought it like a week and i think it's pretty good, both function wise and looks but wonder why it isn't very popular, it's so strange that i have NEVER caught anyone using this phone on the street, in large supermarket or at my college. I guess maybe because the phone is very rare on the market, in fact they have to order it when i ask for the phone. I hope this is a plus though.
Even though it's not from walkman range i think the sound quality is equivalent or slightly better than my Creative Zen V Plus but 1 thing for sure is the radio is definitely better because it has rds and better reception. The camera is okay, it's good to have a 2MP camera around to take picture outdoors but not recommended in low light.
Overall it's really worth to be considered for those who love clamshell phone and want something from SE. Btw, this is my first clamshell phone and my first SE phone, for those who have it, I'm just wondering if there's any way that i can lock this phone to prevent someone else from using my phone or read my messages. Till then, maybe I will continue to review this phone some other time.
