my screen phone become black colour and blank after i wash it using a water. the phone still can on but nothing on the screen. can i know why this matter occur?

Is the display supposed to stay on during calls? I dont think it should for obvious reasons. I have to keep pressing the power key to turn it off, or else calls keep getting cut off!! Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?
