On sonyxperia blog, Sony have acknowledged that the error or problem why a lot of SXS users cannot download ICS is their fault. They immediately started re-releasing ICS and they even informed users to try right away to upgrade their SXS (at least those SI numbers included in the list).
I bought this phone today and its the best phone ever also somehow got it for very cheap :) !!!! trust me this is the best

[deleted post]I suspect the ICS that I am trying to upgrade my SXS for many times last night getting error message after 85% of downloading is technically not available yet in Sony's server despite PC Companion says "Update Available) because I have tried in our office today and I did not get the error anymore but it says "update not available" (at least in Saudi Arabia). I'll just keeping trying to check both through PC Companion and Sony Update Service.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2012Should we need to backup contacs and apps before ics update? No. No personal data, settings or applications, are affected. Everything remains untouched. Enjoy the update :)

For all those who can not upgrade to ics 4.04, install the sony update service. I did this and I have ICS. Very easy and fast.

I already gave up after 5 times I have attempted to install, It"s really annoying. It seems Sony messed up their ICS update.

My Java is up to date. I was one of the few who was not eager to get ICS, but now each time I connect the phone to PC it starts the process only to fail it later.
BTW I'm experiencing wi-fi signal drops on my Tablet S after the ICS update. If that is gonna happen with Xperia S as well, than I'd reconsider the update now and wait for a more stable version!?
