Having fallen out of love with Sony Ericsson some years ago I REALLY wanted to like this first Sony solo....and I almost do.
The screen is excellent, The volume from the internal speaker is also excellent The call quality is excellent The design features at least a little originality The battery life is OK (the battery may be hidden behind a fixed panel that's not that easy to remove but it's a normal battery and CAN be replaced with a little effort) There's no memory card slot (but there's 25GB of available memory internally) The camera is very good (by no means excellent though at present) The software is old but an upgrade to ICS is apparently due around April The sim free cost is reasonable (though contracts seem less so)
So far then a very nice phone I'd be happy to own.
But next comes the three virtual buttons on the bottom of the handset. Above the very nicely illuminated icons are three tiny silver dots. These are where your finger should touch to activate the relevant button. Worryingly hoewever they rarely work first time. In fact sometimes they work better if you touch just above them, sometimes to the left or right of them, and sometimes right on the dot. To be stabbing away at my premium, high end Sony phone like some demented morse code operator is not what I had in mind when I opted for such a "high end" phone.
I hope it's a software issue and I hope Sony are fevering away right now on a fix. If not it's going straight back where it came from. Oh well, fingers crossed for a solution or it's back to Samsung or HTC :(
it's better to wait for LT29i because it has got newest s4 chipset with adreno 225 so i will wait until this is released

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2012unbelivable what people here commenting how good this phone is!!!??
i bot it, and after 1 min... moreYou used it for 1 minute before returning it because it was too large. That is not very rational and I can't really take an assessment made on that short basis as being useful to myself or others.
Maybe it felt large because you didn't take the time to take it out of the box :) (kidding)
GIO, 25 Mar 2012Is it just me or are your xperia S freezing when playing games?? please answer me... My xperia... moreCan you tell me is the reason it is hard to reset because there is no reset hole thing or because you can't remove the battery?
Regarding locking up ... this is a newish GPU right?
I wonder if they will release some sort of driver patch or if games need to be updated to support the new hardware. A bit of a concern.
El-Dakkak, 20 Mar 2012Bought it. Love it. Perfect on all accounts. Though I still think the Xperia Arc is the best l... morei really agree with u,

Anyone can tell me how awesome is this phone. Is it laggy?? I need some help for me to decide between Xperia S and quad core phone like HTC One X.
Sony always my brand..12mp Cam, 32GB Internal Memory, size not to big & not to small, elegant design, supports most application. Not like "A" phones!
andi, 24 Mar 2012Anybody who bought Sony Xperia S within Riyadh Saudi Arabia who can confirm what accessories i... moreyes nothing inside the box . only charger and head phone. i buy it from jazan sa.
recently i bought BB 9900 and my friend got the Xperia S and i must say the Xperia S is amazing (Design/UI/Camera/bulid quality/Screen) and its for the same price as the 9900, i guess i just missed it :p
It takes long time (usually more than two hours) to charge from 20% to 100%. Anybody experienced the same issue? Any ideas?
Also, the bettery doesn't last more than 24 hours with less than average usage.
