SLR2099, 17 Jan 2017I agree with you 110% Sony has the most unique design, and never looks like other devices.Obvious, Remember when Xperia ray was released in 2011, It was one of the slimmest and unique phone that time and it was appeared to be slimmer than it's actual thickness. When Xperia Z released Sony went step ahead with their design language. Now in 2016 again with XZ.
Lex79, 17 Jan 2017I agree they have their own design philosophy, not that it is 'far beyond the others' though.
... moreWell, About the issues you mentioned about the design, let's clarify with my perspective.
First you mean bigger is the space got by bezels or phone thickness? Second if the bezels not justified by duel speakers, still it's comfortable for one hand use with those bezels other than slim bezels specially in the bottom. Also it's Sony's design philosophy. There are lot's of people who would like to watch a MV or short video with much comfortable front facing duel speaker audio.
Third I am not left hand person tho I use left hand for writing, drawing and also it was my habit to keep phone in my left pocket. So mostly unlock it use left index finger and it's fine for me.
I got my security update yesterday and China is always most late for updates.
What about overheating Sony problems? How many minutes you can make a video? On my last z3+ it was a joke - 3-4 minutes and it stops.
Hating and hating. Trolling and trolling. Bad reviews and confused users. Just one thing to do: don't trust them. Ignore them all and go for Sony. Sony's UI is the best it never lag or hang. The smoothest android UI in the world. And its smoothness won't decrease even after some years. I will say again go for Sony. But if you want brand name instead of stability it is different thing.
[deleted post]Glad to hear about batterylife improvement too :-) .
Its indeed a superb phone, with nougat even better.

Got a feeling I'm going to get the usual round of grief for this, but you asked.
I have a few issues with the design, first is bigger than it needs to be, second those bezels are not justified by the dual speakers, as the volume just is the there.
I rarely use phone speakers beyond notification purposes, for that use case give me a louder single speaker and smaller bezels anyday.
Third, I'm left handed, that fingerprint scanner (whislt good) just isn't the most convenient for me.
But remember this is entirely subjective, and those point are my personal grips only.
The build quality and materials is fantastic, the design, for me personally at least......not so much.

Not that classic curvy shiny designs.
Trever, 16 Jan 2017Xperia X and X performance are the most underrated phones.I love the x performance, i love the 5 inches size, the only con with this beast is the lack of the laser auto-focus feature.

Sony X... moreLook if you lot want consider DXOMark's results as the absolute only and final word in smartphone camera performance, then there's three things you need to get straight:
1. For best Sony smartphone camera see X Performance (not, repeat not the XZ)
2. For best Smartphone camera see Google Pixel (not, repeat not the XZ)
3. For only device to score lower than its immediate predecessor see XZ
Am I the only one seeing the pattern there????? And before any of you start with the usual 'stop hating, trolling, blah blah blah etc', nonsense, please bear in mind that those are DXOMark's findings, not my opinions.
Personally, I think DXOMark results should always be taken with a pinch of salt and measured against the results of other reviews/tests, but again if you lot want to swear by them alone, then those three points above need to be taken into account when any of you fanboys try to pass the XZ off as the best device for mobile photography, because according to DXOMark that just ain't true.
Trever, 16 Jan 2017Xperia X and X performance are the most underrated phones.True X Performance is indeed impressive. Hope Nougat betters its batterylife too...
Ali Bashir, 16 Jan 2017Dxomark final result for the x performance 88/88, accept it and..... XDXperia X and X performance are the most underrated phones.

Xperia XZ is just Not as universally excellent all-round photography tool as the G5 and S7 are, and it can occasionally trip here and there - especially in low light.

It's just hypocrisy, simple as.
