I will wait until xz2, i will do "it" again if sony repeat the same mistake again (e.g. plastic but overpriced, no 2k, huge bezel).
dev.d, 01 Jan 2017I hv own a xperia xz bt i hv some doubt There is red light in the proximity area it means its active ie ongoing call.
its new year stop the hate.
who uses phone camera for professional level? none. we only share it on tv and the major purpose is social media but videos on social media are reduced to low quality video whether 1080@30,1080@60,4k.

Trever, 01 Jan 2017Happy new year to you and your lovely families, God bless. Happy new year.
Ali Bashir, 01 Jan 2017Lol, you are the one who's calling us experts yesterday, who did optimize qaulcomm 820 with su... moreTake it you're not that good with sarcasm then, here's a hint: I don't consider yours or Hauser's opinions to be those of experts in any way.
For general purposes, I have already stated that I think Sony have optimised the performance with XZ and 820 as good as anyone and yes better than most.
But camera performance is another thing, I can't call that integration much good when I am frequently starting at the 'the device temperature is rising. If it continues to rise, the app will shut down automatically.' message now can I?
Guess I'll have to stick to 1080p30 and ignore the higher settings completely, truth be told that setting produces very nice results, but I'm not going to hide my disappointment that I can't trust this camera to record anything more than that just to so you lot can continue to feel good about loving Sony as a brand.
And as you don't even own said device, don't presume to tell me how I am finding the performance.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 2017There is major problem is rise of temperature. And screen resolution is not good enough Rising of temperature is a major problem with most smartphones, probably sony slightly higher than others because of triple sensor technology and best image stabilization..
The screen resolution is not good enough?? Please show me that not good enough ..

Not Qualcomms fault if an oem cannot create a product that best utilises it's Snapdragon products, the 820 wasn't created with the XZ specifically in mind you know.
No, customers of Qualcomm purchase their products with the view of intergrating them Into their own devices, they do this knowing full well the specs and capabilities of the SoC they are purchasing.
They then design a device around that SoC (that's an oversimplification, but you get the point), and in theory do hundreds of hours of testing before taking the end product to market.
This thermal warning message that frequently pops up when using the more intensive camera features to me says that the testing process is incomplete, that is not Qualcomms fault.
Why am I constantly having to defend my findings and my experiences to you and Hauser, what is it with the two of you? I've bought an XZ, and I like the XZ for the many things it does well and despite the few things it doesn't, not my problem you fanboys have a problem with any of that.
Lex79, 31 Dec 2016Yeah I'm quite aware of the point I am making thanks. The Xperia XZ has the Snapdragon 820, wh... moreLol, what hindered functionalities?? and he says that he is aware, and what should sony do if qaulcomm can't compete with Apple, most flagships this year should be powered by the snapdragon 835 while they are all powered with snapdragon 820 what a shame, and the screen resolution doesn't affect the gpu performance especially the temperature???
Tann Hauser, 31 Dec 2016Yup I agree. But those factors in drains on SoC are most minor in comparisson to all the came... more"Comparing to cameras with lower pixelcount sensors, or lacking other sensor processess mentioned, is... nondebatable."
Actually it is quite debatable, as evidenced by the volume of debate on the topic across the web from sources far more knowledgeable then you. The end result of said debate is that the 'extra' tech present in the XZ camera array is of questionable value.
I can attest to that is I am seeing little to no added value and quite a few drawbacks. My google photos stream is littered with pics and clips taken from numerous devices, those taken by the various Xperia devices I have used over the years in don't exactly stand out as far as quality is concerned.
"To truely have basis to criticize Sonys camera performance and restrictions, one has to compare to same parameters of other phone camera, which are....nonexistant."
Nonsensical comment that would seem to suggest you believe any cross platform comparisons or Critique of devices is irrelevant due to the uneven hardware?

You pick and ch... moreAm not going into debate about bias and fanboyism with you again. Its pointless.
Im not bothered by your critiques, only by lack of logic in terms of cause and cosequence of the critique itself.
And who is more knowledgable here, especially in Sonys tech, is up to side observers to decide....not me or you.
Happy new year lexie. ;-)
Ali Bashir, 31 Dec 2016I didn't say iPhone's stabilization is better somewhere, and i know that the screen resolution... moreYup I agree. But those factors in drains on SoC are most minor in comparisson to all the camera tech on XZ.
Theres the 23mpx sensor with its pixel count process, theres steadyshot process, theres additional 5 axis stabilisation process, theres triple autofocus processes, and rgb sensor process....all dependant on the SoC.
None have that amount of tech incorporated in camera.
So XZ has every right to cause heatup while using the camera.
Whether it would fare better if OIS was incorporated, remains to be seen. But OIS has its limitations, just as EIS has its own.
Comparing to cameras with lower pixelcount sensors, or lacking other sensor processess mentioned, is... nondebatable.
To truely have basis to criticize Sonys camera performance and restrictions, one has to compare to same parameters of other phone camera, which are....nonexistant.
Ali Bashir, 31 Dec 2016Thumbs up :D, me too, sony is the best for me. For me too. Sony rocks.

You pick and choose to suit your pro Sony bias more than anyone else on this site!
That bias is matched only by your lack of knowledge and your hypocrisy, you are just a fanboy.
I notice how none of you types bother mentioning any of the praise I give Sony or the XZ, but the critique I offer upsets you terribly for some sad reason.
