So far this is the most perfectly designed phone . this one got my attention it has a soul melting design and concept. i love designs and concepts of sony . i hate the design and concept of all samsung products but i love their hardware. this should be given the best phone of the year award in terms of design quality and engineering.
AnonD-33318, 31 Jan 2013I disagree with you that people buy Samsung phone b/c they can't afford Sony. That's the very ... moreMy answer to your statement about Sony not being that expensive is because the previous flagships only have dual core chipsets inside. This is the first quad core of Sony so this is a totally different story. This is going to be far expensive than the S3 and maybe on par or a little expensive than the Note 2. Well, Note 2 is good, but it is too big compared to the Xperia Z. Gonna have my One X+ changed to the Z! I like it! ;)
Anonymous, 31 Jan 2013Several reviewers has given credit for the good button placement on the Z. Lets try first befo... moreThis isn't the first phone to feature low side buttons.
Most people try to a hold a phone in one hand - usually the right hand, as the majority of all people are right handed - and using ones thumb on the screen and the side buttons.
When you then have to bend your thumb very low - and also put your grip very low - to reach the buttons. Not only is it bad ergonomics but it increases the chance of you loosing grip and having it fall to the ground. The fact that it's surface is very smooth does not help.
So that's what happens when quality control fails.
So, what if you're left handed? Then you can use your middle and/or index finger to lock/unlock and change volume. Not nearly as comfterble as using the flexible thumb of course. However, you would also have those fingers always touching those buttons and could cause inadvertent clicks.
So basically, this placement of buttons is unfortunate regardless of which hand you use.
Other than that, the phone looks nice.
Btw, lame personal attacks aren't for adults.

no advance screen panel e.g. IPS or super amoled? even did not mention from its spec that it is using a led backlighted TFT screen. I have xperia pro and the screen is LED backlighted.
