Grimlock, 16 Jan 2013Actually, Sony said themselves that they were targeting the S3 and Note 2. Sony has made many,... moreI somehow agree with you on that buddy! If only Sony released Xperia S, Ion, Acro S, T, Tx or V in time or just a little behind the Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation and XE, Optimus 2X and bunch of other dual cores, they might have taken the crown by then! Sony was just too late back then in releasing dual core phones but now they started the year with a bang! Even HTC did! Both of the companies are the first to release 1080p screen phones, not even Samsung thought of that or at least have done that? Maybe in a couple of months though? Sony, LG and HTC have the best designs out there that even Samsung can't argue with but, Samsung did a great job in the era of the S2 so now even the not-so-pretty S3 is very successful! Thanks to the one that set the benchmark which is the S2. In 2013 Xperia Z opened the door alongside HTC but Sony made the loudest noise compared to the Butterfly and everyone is envious of the Z and ZL's beauties. I somehow feel the pressure on Samsung's part that is why they decided to drop the bomb, an answer to what Qualcomm and Nvidia have released, their Exynos 5 which has 8 cores. I think Samsung told themselves that if we can't pull off the design of the S4 then let's give them an 8 killer cores! haha! Now that's a new rise of battlefield that Sony, HTC, LG and the rest would have to keep up with Samsung! In other words, battle for flagship phones this 2013 is bloody hell! Anything can be possible! People think too inhuman! Now let's see on the other hand what innovations are there opening up for Windows platform, the new look of BB10 and the overrated iOS platform! Who would win? At least, Sony did a great start! ;)
anonymous ultra HD, 16 Jan 2013great news: xperia z tablet coming. :dyeah, and that's just the beginning of great news.
Z family will open the success path for the other beasts that are going to be introduced in IFA.
i was just hopping that the xperia Z won't be built-in battry because i had a bad experience with Xperia Acro S because of the same, and i guess the sony people should look at this ponit, for the phone to be water profe is a good option but for the battry to built-in it's not really good thing specially if the unit hang as any electronic divice you don't have much choices to make it start working again but to send it to the service center to fix it for you, and God knows how long it'll take untill they return it back to you!!
mhd bashar alhallaq, 16 Jan 2013No doubt it's a great phone ,and sony is one of the best and really the one who can compete th... moreNo one can compete with iphone because iphone is not really a smartphone..The iphone is very limited and restricted so how is that SMART???
Going to try this beast especially if the mp3 part has headphone surround option and i can physically handle in daily real life use its size.
i really hope 32GB is not the max memory it can support, seriously i will be so angry if thats the case, i mean its 2013 for goodness sake, not 2010
even speed of xperia t is equal to gs3..why bother about the core.pttffff..the more important thing is the quality..
plzzz lanched windows 8 phone, having 8 mp camera, 1 gb ram ,4g, LED screen 4.3 or 4.7 inch screen range 25000 rs
Ohh i really want to see who's going to win this war ??
Samsung s4 or Sony z or another device by HTC, LG ??
i have sony xperia U but sony xperia Z really a masterpiece in the market of smart phone and its compare to any other branded phone is only time loss.

I used handhelds since 1993, since before GSM. The Ericssons of the 90ies was ok but not as good as Nokia. Teh quality was probably better in Eircsson (the old ones were made in Norway) but ease of use and so on was not their thing, Nokia ruled.
Later, when it became Sony Ericsson, it is my opinion that they were better than Nokia, especially in quality and durability, but also in other things. There has been so many great SE models over the years, i know i am not the only one who say "why did we waste time in Nokia when SE was best all along?". My youngest sister is still reminding us that she always had the better brand and never wasted time in Nokia (shes too young to ever have owned a pure Ericsson but she probably remember them)
Sum up: Maybe the quality of SE came from Ericsson, but the usability and features came from Sony. SE Cybershot and SE Walkman anyone? They are Sony brand names used in SE phones and they are iconic.

But what Sony needs to be careful of, is confusing potential customers again. Even now they are getting of to a bad start. Xperia Z and ZL for example. Both these devices really don't offer any the others doesn't. And that was the problem with Sony from the get go.
Now I completely understand what Ericsson when they said Sony was holding them back. You can only hope that Sony sees what's being written here and get their act together. Because they do make some amazing phones.
Grimlock, 16 Jan 2013It's actually too late for Sony to tell the truth. They are the ones in financial turmoil, not... moreIm sure this phone will help their earnings in PHONES, but the sony conglomerate as a whole may be a different story. I had a look at their hybrid VAIO tablets and new VAIO touchscreen ultrabook last week, yeah its good, and with those prices they dont need to sell so enourmous numbers to make profit. Whata more intereesting is that so many stores had these expensive VAIO hybrids, i think VAIO is on the way up and its easy to understand. Our newest laptop is an Asus, wtf is all i have to say, it wasnt that cheap but its bad, bad. We could have goten a Vaio E series at same price. For sure i will get a Vaio T next time, and i think many buyers think like i do, they are willing to pay more for better products.
Sony should (and probably will) pull more out of the TV market, and products related to that. They should focus on the higher end markets, like 4k products, Sony is alwys best when they lead and the others follow. These are high profit products.
Back to Sony Mobile, i think loveable products like Xperia Z is pawing the road for the coming midrange phones, some of which has already leaked in benchmarks. If sony can have volume sales in midrange and good sales in high end phones the profit will be big. Xperia E and so on should disappear, they should make lower midrange and upwards, nothing on the lower end. We have a Tipo in the household, it works fine and isnt terrible and it looks great but it lacks the finesse and consistent performance of for example Xperia U (Which we also have in the household)
