YES YOU CAN MOST LIKELY GET FREE AIM ON THIS PHONE!!! I got free aim on my old motorola phone. It is text message aim. I got unlimited texts for t-mobile so its pretty good. You dont have to pay for the data plan, UNLESS you want to use internet and email and yahoo/MSN. Of course the sidekick data plan aim is a bit more comfortable, but its the same aim. all you have to do is send a blank message to 246246 (aimaim) From there its easy, you just have to sign in.It will tell you how.

the problem is not just in unlocking.
the issue involves configurations of Philippines mobile company that u r planning to use.
You have to make sure your local wireless provider have settings. If they don't, that means the best thing your unlocked phone would be able to do is to make a call, check voice mail, and listen to downloaded music.
There will be no internet connection, no sms/mms messages and no chatting such as AIM, MSN etc.

PLZ, call your provider before your sis spent money on bying it and unlocking your sidekick.

if u have questions about this device, feel free to ask me, my email: nicknyc718@gmail.com

> In reply to Whiteknight @ 2009-07-16 06:30 from 48Uf - click to readWhen your sidekick loses power, and your contacts, music, videos, etc loses too, dont worry, coz it will be placed back in a brief moment. If in case this happens, call customer care and be xferred to sidekick dept for assistance, Copy important infos on your memory card alsofor better protection.

Terrible Terrible Terrible phone. Id reccomend a gravity over this because you dont have to pay for the data package and it has a full keyboard. Why would you make a phone that if it losses power you lose everything?!? Goodbye contacts, music, pictures, call log, messages, and everything else, plus you cant bluetooth any other device. The G1 or any blackberry is better than a sidekick simply because of initial price and the price to run it is the same, However you get a whole lot more. Grade F-
