I have owned the Thrive tablet since Oct. 2011. This machine has virtually replaced my laptop. If the speakers are the WORST complaint about this product, I would have to say that Toshiba hit a home run in android power and performance. Thrive can do anything that Apple can do, for less money. Sure I had to wait for the ICS update, but it did not interfere with MY LIFE. Listening and reading all of the complaints about media in general makes me feel I'll. We need to be more thankful and in awe of what we HAVE not what we think we are OWED in life. I grew up in the 60's man and this Internet stuff is rockin' so shut up hater's and start thinking and talking positive. Have faith in imagination and be grateful you can read this post! Aloha. Crystal

I love this tablet but am wondering if anyone else has had the problem I'm having with it. For some reason any music i copy to the device becomes fragmented and choppy when played back. Anyone else had this issue?

Honestly I was disappointed when I first got it as a 3.0 device then it was upgraded to 3.2 and it was worst! but a week ago 4.0 update came up and literally change my Android experience the booting time is extremely faster and the functionality of my tablet is a lot better I am happy to have bought this item now and a Toshiba which really stands by its quality name.

Ice cream sandwich has landed and it made my thrive like brand new. Its much more fast, the screen seems to have gotten better and there's a difference in sound quality, better I suppose but then again I always use head phones.

I am surprised reading about bad experiences of so many people! I bought this device about 10 months back and I love it. Everything about the device is just great - except its built-in speakers which are not loud enough for a movie or a song (I use them for VoIP calling all the time though). I use headphones for movies - no issues at all.
Some people have complained about the touch screen. This device uses a capacitive touch screen. Such screens become unresponsive if dirt/smudge accumulates on the glass - it is not a Thrive specific problem. Clean the screen periodically with a micro-fibre cloth (read this: http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Touch-Screen) - I clean my tablet once a month. Keep the tablet face-down on your table when not in use.
Some people have complained about SD card - I have been using a 32GB class 10 SD card from day one - never had any issue. File manager can manage everything on all corners of the SD card too.
USB thumb drive - works like a charm. Never tried a USD HDD - I am told that does not work.
Have not tried the HDMI slot yet - never felt the need.
Thrive is worth every penny that it costs, IMHO.

Possibly this is toshiba's worst ever device..not sticking to any of the features provided. I have been using it for 6 months now and it seemed a complete waste of money. USB not working as expected,Touch has been really dreadfull and lot more to list. Apart from that Toshiba failed to get ICS on thrive as that they have been promising from a longtime...

Correction: It does NOT have IPS screen.

Screen quality is very good but not with perfect viewing angles like an IPS screen !!

Overall, I like and use daily... Shame there are not very good cases for Thrive.

> In reply to Alip900 @ 2011-06-03 18:48 from Ld0N - click to readI spent a ton off money on my Thoshiba Thrive because it is horrible to use. The touch screen is really bad. We have to always click above what we want to actually select. To explain better I have to touch the screen 1/8 to 1/4 above any button or text i want to select. Because of this selecting to copy and paste is a nightmare and selecting words I'm trying to change in a sentence is almost impossible. Using headphones is frustrating on the Thrive as the volume is so low. I wish I'd bought an iPadthis is so bad. Trying to get the cursoir between the words iPadthis in the last sentence is impossible. I'm really sorry I wasted the money.
