I have a 4 year old Vertu Ascent. Now it needs to be repaired. And the price of the repair is the same as buying a new IPhone. Should I get an IPhone instead?

I have listed before on here stating that the reason people buy this type of phone is the service you receive. Again Vertu have excelled as I spoke to them on Friday about the battery in my phone that is now 3 years old. I couldnt locate one close to me and they have sent me one FOC to get the phone up and running. What other company would do the same with no questions asked. Its like everything in this world. If you want the best you pay for it. How many people on here have a phone that is 3 years old, is 100% orignal and still looks new. Build a better phone and it will outlast nearly every other phone on the market. I have no doubt that unlike most peoples phones, this phone will still be going strong for another few years and and when you work out the cost of buying your state of the art, all singing and dancing phones over a 3 year period then the cost becomes blured and you end up paying as much as you would for one vertu phone. Of course most people will never hold let alone own a genuine Vertu so have a view based on nothing more than envy.As a final note, I used the concerige service once to book a cruise, more out of curiosity than anything else and they saved me in excess of £3000 on the cost I would have paid. In theory, Vertu paid for the phone for me with the saving and I still have the same phone as I had 3 years ago and it still does what a phone should do!!

Why do so many people on here write comments yet not own this or many other phones but feel the need to knock it and any other expensive item. I can only asume that it is because they cant afford the real thing so buy a chep copy that fails after a few weeks then come on here for a good old moan. I am on my second GENUINE Vertu and it is by far the best brand of phone on the market. Over 4 years of trouble free use, my orignal looked as good as it did when it was new even though it was 3 years old and my second feels even better and I expect it to last for a good few years. Now for all the idiots who dont own or cant afford one of these phones or any other item thats out of their price range, here is a little info. People who buy this type of phone have no need to show it off to their friends as they have made something of their lives and content to buy the best for both qualtity and service. People who moan about it are failed wanabees who want the best but when they cant afford it have two choices, steal or complain. I buy because I like it and if I can afford it then fine, if not I save up. Thats very novel as most or the cretins on here no doubt have credit card bills that would shame the Bank of England!!

My $200 iphone would blow this $12,000 P.O.S. out of the water as far as performance. I mean, if you are planned on breaking apart your phone when it dies to sell the "gems," I'm sure you could get at least $800-900 back for it. What a joke.
