Arian Adler, 09 May 2016Yes, Now: Viva Vivo for 32-bit 192khz.plz go to 64-bit 256khz.LOL, do you realise that Shannon's theorem in Information Science PROVES that 48KHz will hold more information than what the human ear is capable of hearing? Even though there are myths out there about the purported advantages of 96kHz audio, the fact is that the old-style vinyl "hums" could very well be from extra frequencies, and 96KHz covers this very well. Meaning, in practical sense, a guy never needs more than 24-bit/96 kHz, and even that is pushing the limits. Everything beyond this is, well, for audio, just a gimmick, though extra bits (such as 32-bit) provide a bigger buffer for software tweaks, DSPs and equalisers to do their thing.

A lot of these manufacturers are just getting their phones built from off-the-shelf parts in ODM factories. Now, Xiaomi (for example) may not offer the OS upgrades, they may have an ODM product, but Vivo and Oppo are not known for OS upgrades either. So, the bigger question is - when the hardware is the same, and the situation with updates is the same, why are these brands costing more than Xiaomi/LeEco/Lenovo?

funwithash, 09 May 2016Optimization with hardware smooth interface flawless performance requires testing and r&d ... moreWhy the heck should we (end consumers) care about some smartphone company which is able to coup up some discounted deals with some component manufacturers? What is the benefit for us in that?
You sound more like a Vivo representative who is busy justifying the sky high price of their phones rather than an end consumer concerned about how much he/ she is paying for the product.
What we all end consumers care about is the price at which we are having the phone. The build quality of the phone and its user experience. And on those account Lenovo/ Xiaomi/ LeEco is doing a stunning job. My Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has more or less equivalent specs of Vivo V3Max at half the price. I have used a lot of Vivo phones and I personally find Redmi Note 3 product quality and in-hand feel to be very good. Also the MIUI on Redmi Note 3 provides decent user experience just as good as Funtouch OS of Vivo.
So what is your point?

That way they would have easly got the numbers and V3Max would have been instant hit in India with timely software updates.
I wonder is it Vivo/ Oppo / Gionee EGO that gets in their way of pricing their products so high.
All it depends on volume sold by company if vivo became able to sell v3max in good numbers than definitely there marketing team will ask for updates from company to get good faith of consumers as vivo has bet heavily on v3max sponsoring IPL to make there brand famous company has great expectations from v3max and as a owner I am feeling satisfied and I am saying this even after I was using note 3 however its my bypass handset as I am waiting for Nokia as something amazing is cooking in Nokia labs

They don't have the R&D infrastructure or have the ability to provide timely software updates yet their prices are sky high.

You have to realise these brands aren't really going after the power user. These devices are designed for the "set-it, use it and forget it" crowd. Such consumers care less about OS versions and technicalities - they want good audio, good camera and a few basic apps like Instagram and Facebook with a VERY easy to use UI. And these devices from Gionee/Oppo/Vivo are doing very well to fill that need. They're durable enough to withstand an average user's day too, so what's really wrong? Most of my friends do not really obsess over OS upgrades anyway.
