It happens to the 3 different GSM service providers in portugal. The sms is sent joined, but with more then 75 characters, the phone simply send two or more sms. Who receive the sms, receive only one, of course.

VK2020 support 1000 names where each names can support up to 4 different numbers. it means 1000 names x 4 contact number = 4000 numbers :)

Hi another VK2020 user! ONE chargeable sms sent is still 160 character and is not break into 2 as you said. I purposely try it right after reading your opinion. I think it happen to your service provider :-)

However, there's a fact to this model for sms features is that it doesn't state how many balance letters or how many letters you've key-in.

======
Towards the matter "turning off the tone without answering the call". Just go to the phone setting(5) -> answering key(3) -> send key. So when you got a annoying call yet wanna turn off the ringtone, press (*) key and the phone will goes to vibration mode...

Big cheat, an sms with 75 or morer caracteres leght the phone devide it to two or more sms. An sms should have 160 caracteres not 75...

When charging you can't hear the other side. But if using bluetuth hand-free you can hear the other person.

The softwares of pc-sincronization work's fine. Just install it, restart computer and start program. Phone should be ou Com3 and with option Sincro PC( just ses phone cd)

The screen may be bigger. It's small with a good resolution. In black backgrouds some vertical line (less black) appear.

Key pad appears to be metalic... why saying is plastic?!?! plastic, onliy the white part off key pad with number.

When bought, i thought it would be a basic phone with a basic software, but i was wrong.
The software is very compleate. With 1000 adn on phone book, you can't attribute ring tones and photos to singular number, but you have groups of contacts with diferente photos and ringtones, if you desire.

Have a calendar, that optional you can use it on screen with some transparenci to backgroud. Clock may be analog or digital and may se two diferente times on display for diferent cities on the world.
Have chronometer, Units and currency converter. With big fingers, is ok to press keys.
You can send to phone thing by bluetuth. Sometimes things (that are not music, ringtones or images) go to some part of the phone where ...where the hell i don't know.
Bluetuth hands-free is easy to configure, but you cant disconnect it, because the phone turn it ON again. if it disconects, the only way to connect it again, is configure, again, hands-free.
The phone is small, with good resolution screen (not the best i see), 1, 1 and a half day of authonomy, bluetuth, mp3 player.
With thar characteristics, is a phone in a range of price 175-200 Euros. So the 208 euros that costs is a reasonable price (i think). Is not the right phone for demanding environment.

Motorola L7 is best, but isn't so small and is more heavy. The right phone if you want anithing small to a demanding job.

Does anyone know if you can "stop the ringtone" without "rejecting" a phone call? I know moto and nokia will let you silence the ringtone without rejecting the call.

I don't want the person who is calling to know that I purposely rejected their call leading them straight to voice mail.

i ve own this vk2020 for a month..i ve no regret buying this..but of corse there are pro n cons..

PRO
-the phone detection to blutooth hedset is arond 10metre(excellent)..
-the blutooth pairing/detection is so fast(less then 5sec) not like motorola which might take up to a minute to detect..
-superb,superslim,stylish design,look exclusive n expensive..
-graphics n image colors are very nice..
-mp3 & call sound are extremely detailed,kewl..
-user frenly and attractive menu(graphics)..
-the packaging is nice (can use as a brthday gift to someone,yrson,yrdaughter,yrlovedones)..
-so kewl that hansfree, usb & charger use same jacks n same sockets(looks compact, sockets is covered,no more holes)..
-128MB is enough(no camera anyway,so can install bout 30 complete songs.if u use mp3cutter for 30sec mp3ringtone,then can be more than 80songs/mp3ringtones)..

CONS
-lcd screen of course get warm a bit after 10min of talkin(juz warm)..
-the mic is not so sensitive..
-yes there is white ghosting(like vertical white lines)on the background..
-vibration cannot really feel(of coz, battery is too small anyway)..
-short message not automatically save(while typing)but if a call received, only then the msg will be saved in unsent items..
-battery life is 1-3 days..
-charging is quite slow compared to nokia..
-lcd screen easily scratch..
-lcd cant b seen under direct sunlight..

IF U BUY
1st ask for free screen protector..
ask for extra battery and charger kit(juz buy if u cant get them free, but dont forget to bargain yeah.at least when u buy it all at once,at the same store n at the same time,u can get good price though)..blutooth hedset is worth buying coz it really detects 10metre..again i m glad that the store where i bought my vk offer me charger kit,one extra battery,n blutooth logitech hedset(all 3things) at extra 1/5 of the vk price..afta buying, always switch off blutooth(not only off the handsfree option at the phone but also off the blutooth switch off) if not in use & lower the screen brightness 25% is alredy bright for me(both objectives to save battery)..das is alle..remember,get the screen protector 1st..screen protector 1st,mate("maeit" british slanks, heheh)!

The design of VK2020 strikes me. I bought it yesterday; I’ve been browsing and get use with all the features of it. It just matches my usage needs perfectly. However, I notice there’s few vertical lines in the center in sub-menu screen (like scratches lines), it quite obvious especially the background is in cold color. Yet the main screen with background picture or animation looks perfectly without spot. Is that a common display or should I send it back to the workshop for service. Anyone encounter the same matter as I did?

havent had crashes when typing text messages...but it's irritating when after typing a long message & then you accidentally press the red button, it exits out to the main screen without saving the message

Just got the phone this morning.

First Impression: I thought it will be a full metal construction like the V3 or L7...but it's plastic...I don't mind...but I'm worried about durability..I don't want to accidently snap the battery cover. Very small, but esp. VERY LIGHT! Keys are a "bit weird" to press. You need to get use to them. The next comment will sound weird. You can set "Auto Key Lock" which will auto lock the keypad after 10 sec; there is no way of manually engaging this (as previously mention by past poster) key lock feature unlike Nokia. There is another function "Keypad Lock" which you press and hold "*". After engaged, you can still press up to 5 number keys then the phone will stop you (I guess this allows you to make emergency calls). But you can't press the function keys. The "keypad lock" is more like a "phone lock" function because to disable it you have to entire a password.

Ergin:

Thanks for the reply, i think you may be right that my old phone had a much better low volume pickup and I was just used to talking quietly, it seems I am audible if i just speak a little louder, gonna take some gettin used to, but definately worth it assuming someone can answer the second problem:

Every now and again writing text messages crashes the phone and i have to retype the entire thing again, anyone else experienced this?

In response to Andy:

I've been using the VK2020 for nearly a month now, and I haven't received any complaints about my voice quality from anyone with whom I've spoken using this phone. I wouldn't say the sound quality of its microphone is impressive, but I would think it's adequate.

Keep in mind that there is a very simple way of verifying first hand whether your outgoing voice quality is really bad (if you haven't already tried this): leave yourself a voice message and listen to it.

It might just be that your previous cell phone, over which most of your acquaintances are used to hearing you, had an exceptionally good microphone.
