i ve own this vk2020 for a month..i ve no regret buying this..but of corse there are pro n cons..

PRO
-the phone detection to blutooth hedset is arond 10metre(excellent)..
-the blutooth pairing/detection is so fast(less then 5sec) not like motorola which might take up to a minute to detect..
-superb,superslim,stylish design,look exclusive n expensive..
-graphics n image colors are very nice..
-mp3 & call sound are extremely detailed,kewl..
-user frenly and attractive menu(graphics)..
-the packaging is nice (can use as a brthday gift to someone,yrson,yrdaughter,yrlovedones)..
-so kewl that hansfree, usb & charger use same jacks n same sockets(looks compact, sockets is covered,no more holes)..
-128MB is enough(no camera anyway,so can install bout 30 complete songs.if u use mp3cutter for 30sec mp3ringtone,then can be more than 80songs/mp3ringtones)..

CONS
-lcd screen of course get warm a bit after 10min of talkin(juz warm)..
-the mic is not so sensitive..
-yes there is white ghosting(like vertical white lines)on the background..
-vibration cannot really feel(of coz, battery is too small anyway)..
-short message not automatically save(while typing)but if a call received, only then the msg will be saved in unsent items..
-battery life is 1-3 days..
-charging is quite slow compared to nokia..
-lcd screen easily scratch..
-lcd cant b seen under direct sunlight..

IF U BUY
1st ask for free screen protector..
ask for extra battery and charger kit(juz buy if u cant get them free, but dont forget to bargain yeah.at least when u buy it all at once,at the same store n at the same time,u can get good price though)..blutooth hedset is worth buying coz it really detects 10metre..again i m glad that the store where i bought my vk offer me charger kit,one extra battery,n blutooth logitech hedset(all 3things) at extra 1/5 of the vk price..afta buying, always switch off blutooth(not only off the handsfree option at the phone but also off the blutooth switch off) if not in use & lower the screen brightness 25% is alredy bright for me(both objectives to save battery)..das is alle..remember,get the screen protector 1st..screen protector 1st,mate("maeit" british slanks, heheh)!

The design of VK2020 strikes me. I bought it yesterday; I’ve been browsing and get use with all the features of it. It just matches my usage needs perfectly. However, I notice there’s few vertical lines in the center in sub-menu screen (like scratches lines), it quite obvious especially the background is in cold color. Yet the main screen with background picture or animation looks perfectly without spot. Is that a common display or should I send it back to the workshop for service. Anyone encounter the same matter as I did?

havent had crashes when typing text messages...but it's irritating when after typing a long message & then you accidentally press the red button, it exits out to the main screen without saving the message

actually, depressing the "*" key takes one to silent mode. and Andy...i agree, one definitely has to talk louder using this phone, else one constantly gets this reply- "hello..hello.."

Just got the phone this morning.

First Impression: I thought it will be a full metal construction like the V3 or L7...but it's plastic...I don't mind...but I'm worried about durability..I don't want to accidently snap the battery cover. Very small, but esp. VERY LIGHT! Keys are a "bit weird" to press. You need to get use to them. The next comment will sound weird. You can set "Auto Key Lock" which will auto lock the keypad after 10 sec; there is no way of manually engaging this (as previously mention by past poster) key lock feature unlike Nokia. There is another function "Keypad Lock" which you press and hold "*". After engaged, you can still press up to 5 number keys then the phone will stop you (I guess this allows you to make emergency calls). But you can't press the function keys. The "keypad lock" is more like a "phone lock" function because to disable it you have to entire a password.

Ergin:

Thanks for the reply, i think you may be right that my old phone had a much better low volume pickup and I was just used to talking quietly, it seems I am audible if i just speak a little louder, gonna take some gettin used to, but definately worth it assuming someone can answer the second problem:

Every now and again writing text messages crashes the phone and i have to retype the entire thing again, anyone else experienced this?

In response to Andy:

I've been using the VK2020 for nearly a month now, and I haven't received any complaints about my voice quality from anyone with whom I've spoken using this phone. I wouldn't say the sound quality of its microphone is impressive, but I would think it's adequate.

Keep in mind that there is a very simple way of verifying first hand whether your outgoing voice quality is really bad (if you haven't already tried this): leave yourself a voice message and listen to it.

It might just be that your previous cell phone, over which most of your acquaintances are used to hearing you, had an exceptionally good microphone.

does anyone know that when the VK2020 is being charged, you cannot make calls at the same time. actually you can....but you can't hear the other person on the other line. But once you pull out the charger you can.

Also there is a problem with my auto redial, it seems to redial the last Dialled Call, over and over again.

Anyone with similiar problems?

When I first got this phone i thought it was grea, its small and light and seems to have the right amount of functionality (i dont know anyone who actually uses the camera on their phone unless they are utterly bored!!).

Unfortunately, after a few hours of use I was rather dissapointed, let me explain:

First: Everytime I call someone they claim they can barely hear me, as youc an imagine - a pretty useless phone if you cent be heard!
Second: The phone randomly resets when you are 75% of the way through typing a text message and it doesnt save it either.
Third: There is no simple way to manually lock the keypad, you either have to wait until the auto-lock engages (annoying if you are half way through typing a message) or use the password protection option, which means tyoing your password in everytime you want to check your phone.

Now the last point is not a huge issue - i can live with using the password protect option. But the first point is a major problem - I read that it affected the VK2000 but had been fixed in teh 2020. The handset I currently have is actually a replacement - i sent he first back as i thought it was faulty, but i asked the guy to call me using the replacement before he sent it and I could hear him fine, now I get the handset and it doesnt work again. This made me think that its a setting that I have wrong or that my provider (O2-UK) has something to do with it. has anyone else experienced this?

It is possible that the microphone is low quality (wouldnt surprise me since the screen is fairly low quality (evidenced by the white 'ghosting' people have mentioned) understandably for a little known make. Thw microphone is probably narrow band and my voice falls just outside the high amplification band, hence i experience poor gain on my voice, but surely I cant be the only one out there who misses the band!!!

The random crashes are upsetting but bearable, but if the low volume cannot be fixed then im getting a refund on this phone.

Regarding dropped calls, I've been getting way more dropped calls with this phone, too, compared to my previous phone, which was a Sony Ericsson T616. It usually happens in locations where the signal reception is less then ideal.

As for the "why", I can only imagine that it's because corners have been cut in the antenna design/size and the chipset capabilities in order to make the phone as small as it is. So, I file it as another item under the "things you may have to live with if you want a phone this tiny" category.

The phone heats up after about 5 min. However,it just gets warm. This is pretty common for most cell phones I've used in general. As for the battery life, it isn't the greatest...it needs to be charged every 2 days I find. I'm not sure if there is any adverse effects on the battery if you use the phone while charging...I can only assume it doesn't since lithium batteries aren't supposed to have the memory effect.

Interesting. Thanks for your reply. I haven't experienced any dropped calls yet, but I don't talk on the phone too often either (about 5 calls a day).

Thank you for your reply and tip regarding charging via USB. May I ask what frequency band you are using? I am on the 850/1900 band. Those who are on the 900/1800 band have not noticed the "popping" sound while talking either.
