> In reply to Spikey @ 2009-09-25 10:10 from Mx@E - click to readI wud like to know if this OS (LiMo) has developed its own applications like document viewers to run on or are they built by the phone manufacturerers(Samsung & Vodafone)? I hope that is not left out like the guys @ Android did when releasing their first phone, without a document reader/editor. Waiting for it here in South Africa on Vodacom, apparently.

Wait till it comes out and play with it. I did, and it was brilliant. and to those confused it is not a resistive touch screen. Its a capacitive!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-09-26 11:13 from mCSY - click to readYer course I am I was just making myself at home with all the other people talking total crap on here! I mean come on seriously speaking - ok the phone is a samsung - some people like them some dont - guess what your missing the point! Is it really about the handset - luckly for O2 they ride there average network preformance on the back of apple's sterling reputation and have made the industry into a product related purchase for most people. But shouldnt you choose a network for its preformance and what it cn do for you and not just the hardware. I think its good that Vodafone doesn't want to be good just because they have a good product to offer - they want to be the best because they are the baest and are ones that pioneered this industry and product aside in my opinion still do and will continue to do. I'll get off my soap box now - i like Vodafone and yes its apparent they need an image change and yes they have some catching up to do on the handset side of things - but i bet you one think - this new proposition will give O2 and apple a run for its money and if not so what - atleast they tried!

The cool thing about this is that the version of the LiMo OS that installed on the phone is developed by Vodafone. Samsung just provided the 'shell' to put it in. The buttons around the handset(They are specific to the phone features such as vodafone People), everything to do with the funtions is vodafone's brain child. cool huh... Other manufacturers will surely in the future want to make a Vodafone 360 handset, just considering the number of Vodafone customers that there are globally. Think, all across eurpose, austrailia, middle east, india... the global customer base is huge so any consumer orientated manufacturer would be crazy to not want to... apart from nokia, as they have interests in only their own Symbian and Maemo.
The other great thing is that the Vodafone People Service will be available to EVERYONE on ANY network!! With its own built in App store, thats taking money from other networks customers!
GO VODAFONE!!!! :)

Mid October release for the H1 and M1 - the OS is specifically designed to sync with social networking sites and your contacts (and other PIM data) are saved for you through an app for PC. If you lose your phone, all your data is safe and it can be synced straight back to your new phone! Awesome!
