yes u can update to 2.3 and 4.03 but not from official site. i love this motorola with 2.3 android. it's so fast and soft... :D

I had a Defy for a year and half, I like it for every thing, but some times I hate it, because it does hang up or freezes many times, so I Keep factory resetting, but when it is worn=king, its very good.

I have this phone for a year now. It is great. I wash it with liquid soap, and sink it in water every time i have the chance to win a bet.

I m going to advise u that before installing new rom with CM 7 or CM 9, plz consult ur defy service provider. I installed both ones bt it cann't work, both times i had to reset my defy. So try to install those roms which have built-in CM7 / CM9 and avoid to install separately.
Further i will refer to xda.developer the best forum.

above is the link too root the cellphone ...hmmm if u update ur cellphone unofficially it has chances for damage..but dnt wrry if ur cell is in warranty u can take the risk..just remember too take a backup copy of ur previous os!.. if ur cellphone bricks u can get a replacement frm service centre :D...but its in case of warranty...

i haved used,but not satisfied with itss processing capabilities it lags...n ...i was charging it.suddenly it got hanged n wen rebooted it wasnt working....screen gets hanged as i start it..i gave too service centre hope so i geet it soon...:(..but on the while itzz amazing phone @ dat price..!...best option aginst sony neov

Rooted or not they work flawlessly. Well mine is unrooted and still using tha stock 2.1 roms, and the experience with is just beautiful.
