GSM Arena says nothing about the type and speed of the processor. Anyone know anything?

Anybody knows if it has that LED at the right front that blink when you missed a call or a message like E51?Or something else that can do it instead like green light around E50 joystick.Very useful thing at least for me.

> In reply to sound @ 2009-02-19 17:47 from iK0fThis phone supports a new technology called EDoS camera. This is the latest in camera lens. In this camera there are no moving parts like 'motors' in autofocus cameras .The camera lens doesnot move mechanically to focus the object. The subjects are focussed automatically and instantly without any physical back and forth movement of the lens. The pics come out sharper and clearer than autofocus cameras and also helps in low light conditions. This saves battery also. So autofocus cameras may become a thing of past.

NO AUTOFOCUS!! admins, change that. even on the back of a phone you can see no AF sign. e75 is the phone with autofocus.

I too have this universal remote program which allows you to use your phone to control anything you can think of.

I was surprised when I saw the option to control Air Conditioner Units.

Really a powerful program.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-02-16 20:33 from 04vKI can see you are excited about the E55 in saying it hs a monster battery, pocket friendly and so many features.

I'm not surprised that Nokia has put features in this phone that you wouldn't normally get in a lower classed E series.

Nokia lost some market share last year and they promised to make up for it. This is the reason Nokia is making us drool with the unexpected cool features in the E55.

Take note, the E55 / E75 is the first E series phones to feature UPnP technology...a feature which was exclusive to N series previously. Probably if Nokia didn't lose some market share last year then maybe the E series still WOULDN'T have UPnP technology.

A manufacturer's fall can result in our gain.

I have a E51 and love it and would have consider this new E55 if it wasn't for a few downfalls:

1. less than half memory of E51 (E51-130MB, E55-60MB)

2. No infrared port (this is very useful and completes a phone)

3. No bluetooth shortcut key (asterik * on E51)

4. No standalone contacts key (very useful enabling you to quickly bring up your contacts no matter where you are)

5. Speakers are still at the back (this can cause you to easily miss calls especilly if the phone is on a soft surface like a bed)

Nokia always work within a budget for each of their models and in order to gain new or better features they always cut back in other areas.

What I do like is the larger screen, lighter weight, UPnP technology, higher megapixel count camera, VGA video recording, front camera, built-in GPS, 3.5MM jack and longer battery life at almost twice the talk time compared to E51.

But an interesting point is that the higher classed E71 has the same 1500 mAh BP-4L battery yet gives you 2 1/2 hours more talk time. The E55 gives you 8 hours while the E71 gives you 10hr. 30mins.

As much as I love my E51 and like the improvements in E55 I will stick to my plan to upgrade to the classy and equisite E71.

You pointed out 2 major pointers...especially the contacts direct-key which is now missing.

When I first examined the keypad of the E55 I didn't see the bluetooth key BUT I never realised the standalone contact key was gone too. I'm glad I read your post.

I currently have a E51 and this upgrade looks nice BUT 2 turn offs. Less internal memory and the speakers and still at the back.

130MB gone down to 60MB...that's less than half of what the E51 comes with.

Other than those drawbacks the other specs. are wonderful.

Yes it does have an accelerometer, it's also a 6ooMhz processor unlike the 369Mhz offered on the E75... for full details visit:
