> In reply to Fil @ 2010-08-26 12:31 from 2Zjb - click to readNO this is not the phone for u,
This phone is for geeks and hard core bussiness end, not for casual or multimedia freaks.
This phone dont have FM, equalizers, mms forwarding, call recording,no divx support(only xvid), if you have 1GB of images then you browsing will slow down.
you can wait for the nokia n8, its having capacitve scree,if u use the capacitive screen you dont go for the resistive screen again.

I have heard that you can't do *123# on this phone?
I mean does it supports special characters while dialing/calling?
I have been a Symbian user in the past having no knowledge about Linux or Maemo. Will it be safe if I choose this phone? I like the features of this device very much especially it's 32 GB inbuilt memory, good mozilla browser, decent camera and finally DivX video codec support out of the box.
..but some limitations like not able to make a video call on network, no send file over bluetooth, no FM, no free voice guided navigation on GPS, no editing office files and no special typing support while dialing are some issues which are holding me back.
How many third party applications are available for the issues i have mentioned above and are they all available free on the internet or do I have to hack the firmware or something like people do in symbian phones?
N900 users, Please provide your inputs. Appreciate your help in this regard. Thanks in advance.

I love my N900. I'm using AT&T prepaid and thinking about moving to T-Mobile to be on 3G. Although it only have 2.5G on AT&T I can still make Skype call on it if the signal is strong. Now, that's awesome. Imagine what it would do on 3G! I've never paid more than $25 a month with enough data package rollover to the next.

I was wrong earlier about the time for GPS lock. I tested again just now, it took less than 10 seconds. I will post more details tomorrow.

Ok...this is it...I couldn't wait anymore to post this... I took around an hour to download the Sygic maps.rar files. I unzipped it in my PC and copied it to my N900 root folder. Then opened xterm with root access to install the Sygic Mobile Maps version 9 and the maps of India. I opened the application and managed to activate it with a unique key to my device IMEI.
Finally came down to testing the application. I just went outside my house to see how it works.... The GPS signal locked in like 15 to 20 seconds (a lot faster than Nokia maps which takes like forever) and my location was displayed instantly in 3D like street map..... I am so happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....Now my N900 is voice enabled GPS device for India.....I can't wait to take my car out tomorrow. I would post the screenshots of the application soon.. My N900 is so complete now! I was waiting for this day!
I am not bothered anymore if Nokia releases Meego or Nokia Maps voice enabled app for N900 or not!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-08-25 16:22 from KFPw - click to readIf you have a Skype account and internet access on your N900 there's an option to use video call. I tried it and loved it. You might also need to update the firmare to 1.2.
