AnonD-303790, 08 Sep 2014Yes, its a glitch with the KitKat update. The front camera works fine, the rear camera works... moreHow could you install back the jellybean 4.2. I cannot find the official firmware.
Typing this from an 830, and I am very impressed..yes the screen is not the high end, but more than adequate for most tasks, unless you've used another high end device you would hardly tell the difference..a slim build, slightly heavy, but quite premium feel..updated to 4.4 and impressed that I have a cheap device with the latest software..I own a device with much higher pixel ratio/density but can hardly notice much difference.aren't many devices this cheap, with this quality..
Potential Buyer, 21 Jul 2014question for those who have this tablet. do you really have to touch/press the icon (any apps ... moreTo Potential Buyer:
The touch screen sensitivity wasn't the best when I bought my 830 - but for $129 at Best Buy I wasn't complaining. I received the OTA 4.4.2 update over the weekend and the sensitivity seems much better and the screen seems to be brighter too.
For anyone looking for a low cost but good tablet I can really recommend this one. I have 3 other tablets ranging from Samsung Tab Pro 12.2 to a Nexus 7 (2013). Those two are outstanding tablets but the screen size and 4:3 aspect ratio of the 830 is nice and I do like using it.
Yes, the resolution isn't super-sharp, but it's not bad - the same as my wife's iPad Mini. It can slow down a little if you have too many apps open but that's easily rectified.
The micro SD slot adds to it's appeal.
The latest Kit Kat update proves Acer is serious about its tablets. I have an Asus TF700 which became almost unusable and I felt abandoned by Asus as they didn't resolve its many problems with an update. (Thankfully Cyanogenmod did!)
Honestly, if you don't want to pay more than $150 for a decent tablet I don't think you can do better. Even at $200 it would merit consideration.
mobmob, 21 Aug 2014Does this has HDMI output or any kind connecting to TV..?No HDMI connection but Chromecast does a great job for many apps.I use it in preference to HDMI on my other (HDMI equipped) Android devices.
Yes, its a glitch with the KitKat update. The front camera works fine, the rear camera works but you have to wait a few minutes for it to kick in. Its a bad glitch, I doubt Acer will fix it. I even reinstalled Jellybean and did the kitkat update, the camera is still buggy. Boo Acer ! Shame on you, why didn't you fix this before releasing?
I am looking for multi user setting on this tab, but unfortunately on fabric version of Android (4.2.2) it's not available. Does any one find it on the new system (4.4.2)?
Has anyone experienced a camera problem after updating to kitkat?
Mine stopped working with the pre instaled android app. The app opens but the screen stays black. When I use some other camera app it opens the camera but it lags a lot and I have to wait 2-3 min to get started.
Can anyone, please find a solution for this problem.
If I'd known that updating would do such a thing I've never would have done it. :(
update 4.4.2 is avaiable for iconia a1-830. great jobs for Acer
Does this has HDMI output or any kind connecting to TV..?
Great Tablet, got mine yesterday. Couldn't find better in its price range. Plus got it for only $60 for signing new contract with my network operator.

I have tried the demo product of this tablet and my experience was i had to touch the icon firmly just to proceed. I tried to touch the icons softly but it did not respond.
