The specs here say "Android 5.0 (Lollipop)".
I don't understand why it says so since acer.com says Android 4.4 KitKat on the Acer Liquid Jade Z (S57).
Though it has been said that an update will come that hasn't happened. I have had mine for 10 months and can conclude that it is not going to happen as promised. My next phone will NOT be an Acer that's for sure.
I experienced the lot of problem about this phone, the more you press buttons it become more heat and the battery become flat, I charge it three times a day
My first few weeks was enjoying the phone but now it freezes a lot,and restarts it's self now and then.just need an advise what to do with a phone cause I had it just for a month now.

Can somebody post a comment in which region this phone has got official lollipop upgrade. In Europe sim free, unbranded, still running 4.4.4 sadly...

As many other brands, Acer is choosing hotspot channel automatically based on surrounding WiFi networks. If you live in a crowded WiFi area, than it is very likely that your Acer phone will sellect Channel 13 for hotspot, considering it is less crowded. There is no manual setting to change this. Workaround is to get your phone close to a device working on Channel 11 and your phone will automatically choose Channel 1 or so, trying to avoid jammed frequency. Works every time.
Krissi, 01 Oct 2015Only android 4.4.4Android version 5 is coming soon for the handset that Acer has confirmed
Liquid Jade Z Plus can be the best choice
Joelsmile, 24 Sep 2015Really, is it confirmed, does it mean that the wifi hotspot is no use..Portable hotspot works fine except it is set by default to broadcast on channel 13. In North America supported channels are from 1 through 11. If your device can see (support the frequency of) channel 13 than portable hotspot will work great. Right now I'm typing this on my laptop connected to Jade Z portable hotspot. My other laptop doesn't see it. My Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn't see it. Unfortunately there is no settings in the menu to change the channel. Rooting the phone will be an easy solution, but it will void the Acer warranty. Still with Acer tech support, will keep you updated...
Is it true that wifi hotspot of the acer liquid jade z is not detectable to other mobile phones(in short no use). Anyone one here who already purchased one,pls confirm if its true.im plnanning to get one.tia
JUST BOUGHT IT FROM LAZADA. 16GB INTERNAL STORAGE, 2GB RAM BUT it is only on kitkat 4.4.4. so i was wondering if i check the software update and maybe update it to 5.0 - 5.1 lollipop; does it lessen the ram usage?
just bought a Jade Z for my daughter. Nice look. Works OK except for the fact that it regularly powers off and needs to restart. Any thoughts what can/should be done?
Story 1 - Bought it. tied it. loved it. turned on Portable WiFi Hot-Spot. it was easy and wifi hot-spot icon at top left. Great!......but....no device can see it. spent hours with stage 1 acer tech. ...nada. So I returned it and they gave me a new one.
Story 2 - turned on Portable WiFi Hot-Spot. it was easy and wifi hot-spot icon at top left. Great!......but....no device can see it. spent hours with stage 2 acer tech. ...nada. So Tech admits its a default. So if protable wifi hot-spot is for you.....the phone is NOT!!!!
