Samsung and AKG unveiled a new line of wireless headphones that range from large over the ear models to compact in-ear ones.
AKG N700NC – over the ear
Soft ear cushions with memory foam promise a high level of comfort while the Adaptive Noise Canceling tech can block out outside sounds (you can adjust how much).
The AKG N700NC offer a flat-foldable design for easy portability and up to 20 hours of wireless playback with noise cancellation enabled (or 36 hours for wired playback with NC on).
These will be available later this year from AKG.com, Samsung.com and Amazon at $350.
AKG Y500 – on-ear
The AKG Y500 can pair with two devices, allowing you to easily switch between listening to something on your phone to something else on your computer. The headphones can detect when you take them off and will automatically pause playback.
There’s no noise cancellation on this pair, but they have Ambient Aware – a feature that can mix in outside sounds with your audio so you can hear what’s going on around you.
The AKG Y500 will be available later today on AKG.com, Samsung.com and Amazon, as well as carriers Sprint and US Cellular.
AKG Y100 – in-ear
These are a tinier version of the Y500 as they also feature multi-point connectivity (pairing with two devices) and Ambient Aware.
At just 24g they are light on your head and easy to stash away. Their battery is good for 8 hours of playback and needs 2 hours to charge back up.
The AKG Y100 are also launching later today on AKG.com, Samsung.com and Amazon, plus Sprint and US Cellular.
Here’s a table to quickly compare the three headphones:
|Adaptive Noise cancelling||Yes||-||-|
|Automatic Play & Pause||-||Yes||-|
|Charging time||2 hours||2.5 hours||2 hours|
|Music play time with Bluetooth on||Up to 20 hours||Up to 33 hours||Up to 8 hours|
