I think they use the same camera. But you should buy this instead of OT835. It has IrDa (OT835 doesn't). It's cheaper too...

Europe has got the latest firmware updates that takes care of low/soft incoming SMS ringtone. As for ASIA, please check with your local Alcatel centre for any firmware updates. Thanks.

Also, if you go on that site, then click on "sonnerie mp3", you will be redirected to a "yahoo group", just sign up, and you will find a lot of mp3 rings and java games, its really worth it. (just click on "files" or "fichiers" once you signed up for the group.

I found very few sites dedicated to this phone. I usually surf other mobile phone sites to download java games, ringtones and wallpapers.

yeah thanks, i found out how to do it by browsing forums and stuff :).
Now i'm wondering something else, when you transter files to your phone via the Alcatel Web mail (they give you a code that you have to write and you get your file) is it free ? (beside the wap connection) i think i read it somewhere but i'm not sure anymore.
Also i found a site only about the OT 756, lots of pictures, animated gifs etc to download and a few games, everything in 128*160. here is the link : http://my756.free.fr/
Since i'm french, just ask me for translation if you need help but it shouldnt be hard :) also, i was wondering if you had other sites like that related to the OT 756 ?

u need to download and install PC suite 3
then u go here :

signup , then go JAVA
then u download JavaLoader for 756 , u install it then........ u can send games to ur phone by infrared using CONTENT MANAGER

yeah, i got the same problem aswell for the SMS ringtone volume, even tho i really like the phone, its kinda annoying.
And by the way, i'm not sure it's really worth it to buy the IRDA stuff to transfer sounds, pictures, etc, i just upload them on a FTP, then browse my server with GPRS, then download the stuff i want on the mobile.
Also, i was wondering if anyone knows whats the file extension for java games ? cause i got some but i can't download them with my OT756, it says it doesnt recognize the files, the extension is *.jar

Yes my friend had problem like you.The volume ringtone of incoming sms become low.Other friend recommend to make mp3 for sms ringtone

I've got this phone two weeks ago and I think it's a great phone. Alcatel firmware programmers have done a great job by packing in as many features as possible.
BUT, there seems to be a BUG for the volume of the incoming SMS ringtone. The volume is fix (very soft) eventhough the speaker volume has set to the highest level. In other words, there is no control volume for the incoming SMS ringtone.
Do any of you guys face this problem? Please let me know.
BTW, does anyone know, what buttons should I press to view the firmware version of this phone?

This phone rocks!
However, sometimes after using the phone for awhile, the camera and video function does not respond after pressing on it to open the application.
Happened twice already. Any of you encounter this before?

*What is the size of my MP3 melodies?
The best compression rate for MP3 files is: 56Kbps- 22.5KHz, which means that a 10 second MP3 file represents 70KB.
*Can I download MP3 melodies?
Yes, you can download MP3 melodies via WAP, MMS and the PC software suite with a maximum size of 150KB.
You can also exchange them via IrDA.

I can't find detail about the max mode of MP3 that it can play. Like for my C650, it only can play at 22khz, mono.
Anyone got details for such?

Nice phone. My friend get a deal with 1020 ( + handfree).
Too bad the software puit only for XP and 2K (my is ME).
Luckily still can use infra-red to transport stuff.
