Oh I am so glad that my Mum didn't know that it could be used with regular AAA batteries as the battery finally dying was what allowed me to get the Nokia 3220 so I could keep in touch if needed on my way home from school (got the train home and it was frequently delayed or even cancelled which caused a ton of problems). I got the Alcatel in 2000 as it was the cheapest available for about £20 so my Mum could afford it. I'd wanted a Nokia 3210 but they were too expensive in comparison. Eventually got the 3220 in 2005 when I was in the final year of secondary school. I put money towards it from birthday/Christmas money.
And I still use it now 13 years on! Its had a few replacement batteries but it's doing well.

my first phone. built like a tank and runs on ordinary batteries. strangely, I was quite happy with this phone and it lasted me for more than two years until it just died on me. it's still in my drawer in its original box and accessories. it's the only phone that I kept and not sell or send to a recycler. replaced it with an alcatel ot311.

i have this unit until now and im proud to use it even if all of my friends units are blackberry and iphone4, i can view youtube here, connect to internet and browse.. thats why i love this phone.. and it is sexy like me.. teehee!! oh i forgot the rules says that i have to use common sense.. common sense.. there i used it! teehee!! love it!!

Vijith, 31 Jul 2009Same here. This is my very first phone i used. before the nokia 3210. This is also the 1st time i saw and handle the mobile phone. Way back yr 2000. Hahaha! I remember it. Looks like a toy. Now i owned Nokia 5300
