Knight Rider, I've added you to my msn, just to let you know the killedkennyblabla is my email.
Maybe you can help me with some other questions I have regarding the OT-S853
Bombino sorry but I have no mpeg4 converters other then the original Alcatel video converter... don't you have that?
Jerico... thats odd... my phones is kinda coming in its element now... standby time 6-7 days with minor use.
try to call versatile, there are available accessories for s853. or if it is still in warranty ask for a replacement for they are claiming it works for 8 hrs talktime, i consider it deffective.
Are there any stronger batteries available for this phone? I already set all network thingy to none and I'm not playing games on my phone... still, the battery last for less than 24 hours.
@Knight Rider, thanks for the explaination, but I believe my S853 is a fossil :) it's firmware is 164, and it is not officially sell in Indonesia, I bought it not in full condition, only with charger :( I've tried to convert but
it still corrupted, maybe you have a better mp4
converter and sample of good mp4 files? please sent me by email at email@example.com Thanks bro..:)
About the video: Try to convert it to the screen size first... 177*220 pixels (@15-25 fps) and try to make the audio 128kb/s, if that does not work use a smaller video resolution (the next after 177*220).
Now to the firmware, how old is your phone? Do you experience a lot of crashes? If your phone is less then a year old it is still under the one year Alcatel factory warranty and then the upgrade might even be for free! Be sure to ask and mention the service center if you can still get a free upgrade due to your intact warranty (I believe the company is called Solid Vision right?). The new firmware does not give you any major new functions, but it will make the phone a bit more stable and it will not be crashing that often anymore. Also could you ask the people there what version they are on now, as I am interested where they are one year after the phones release.
It's branded by Mobistar (I'm from Belgium) It's firmware 169, I saw on the back of the phone, but am thinking of sending it to a repair shop in the Netherlands. They say they have the latest firmware release, but they don't mention which one... Is this firmware worth the 60 euros (80 dollars)?
Tnx in advance
Can anyone help me spec of mp4 video format that can play smoothly and sound great in Alcatel OT-S853? such as Video frame size, Video frame rate, Video bitrate, Audio bitrate, Audio sample rate, I'm trying to convert some mpeg videos so that I can play those videos in this phone, Thanks in advance :)
188 version is pretty solid... what is your currently branded one?
Hey, could someone please post all the secret codes for this phone, if you might? (like reset phone, that one I found allready :o)) Oh, and how do I check which firmware version I have? I have a branded firmware, and I want to send it to the repair shop for a non branded one instead. Which firmware I should have best, the 18b, 188 or any other?
Tnx in advance
Yipee! I can stop my long message ring tone now. Just press the "C" button two times or; the "C" button then the "red phone" button
Webdude why didn't you install the software? Whats the issue?? Mail me, maybe I can help.
you can make your stamps with OT-S853. either with pictures you save from the mobile internet or take with camera. There is a modify option on (jpg)pictures of vga size (640*480) or smaller. One of the choice is make new stamp.
Stamp and frames can only be added to small pictures - if the picture is too large the phone will ask you to reduce with direction key (the ring around ok bottom)
the software to my alcatel ot757 has some programs to make stamps and frames (and programs to encode video and shorten ring tones (midi/mp3)). but I never succeed in installing the software to OT-S853 so I no idea of what you can do with it
it would typical for alcatel phones to be "different" in some of the advanced features/options (like network clock).
I remember from the manual of my older alcatel phones some features would only exist in a some version of the model - like the network could requested a model with network time. And some model comes sometime with an email modules in message menu (like Alcatel OT-C552)
I believe you Nelson, but I just find it weird that such an option would not be available in some models and in others it is.
I'll send you a picture of my friend's unit showing that menu. Maybe few days from now.
My first unit was a 169 and that had it too. At least... if I remember correctly.
