SLOWER/ WORSE SPEC than the PIXI 3.
BEWARE of you buy from Car phone warehouse, that's the low memory version (Mike reports only 2GB internal)
Terrible battery life, about a day after 3 months use (used to be 3 with background data disabled)
And the hands free speaker is very distorted.
I'm not usually opinionated in reviews, but, really? Car phone warehouse should drop this
stav3295, 21 Sep 2017It doesn't claim to have 4GB of RAM. RAM stands for Random Access Memory which is basically th... moreI put an SD card in my phone of 32Gb and stav is right, it is running 8 x faster.
But now I cant see anything on the screen because its running so quickly and I cant type fast enough. I have had to throw it all away because the battery only lasted 3 minutes when it was running so fast and it got hot.
Kill Joy, 11 Oct 2017Got two, unfortunately :( The first got stuck in a loop loading Android and only a factory ... moreI found joy launcher to have a lot of issues it kept coming up joy launcher not working so I downloaded google launcher & installed that & the phone runs a lot more smoother & NO stupid octopus appearing on the screen
My advice is when you get the phone straight away download google launcher from the play store & install that ! As the phone comes with joy launcher which has issues it slows the phone down keeps coming up joy launcher not working ! After downloading google launcher the phone runs a lot smoother with NO issues !!!
Its a basic little cheap phone which will do as a spare don't expect too much from it
I bought this handset as I needed a cheap phone after a week of using it the screen went black & the phone was unresponsive & a box kept coming up saying joy launcher not working ! After removing rebooting the phone it kept happening so after doing a bit of research I was told to download google launcher from the play store which I did & I changed the launcer
I have never been a fan of anything google and this phone has confirmed my opinion on it.
When the phone is not installing some app I neither selected or even want it is updating all the other apps it has installed against my will. No matter what settings you choose and set it will continue to do this anyway.
Most annoying it is so busy doing its own thing I do not think I will ever get chance to use it as a phone when I need to as it is locked in its own functions too much.
What a waste of money they say its a smart phone but its not smart if you cannot make calls because the phone is too busy to let you into it.
I bought a Pixi after my flip phone that I had owned for about 6 years died.
I was genuinely surprised at how cheap it was, only $100 CAD. It is a good device for calling, texting and web surfing.
The only real complaints I have is that it has small storage, ram and a slowish processor, so games are not something this phone does well.
It loads all webapps fine, it can play 480p video no problem and doesn't seem to care when the video is higher resolution, it just scales down.
Honestly if you want a powerful, high tech phone this one is not for you, but if you want a cheap, functional smartphone I recommend it.
Got two, unfortunately :(
The first got stuck in a loop loading Android and only a factory reset would get it working again, clearing all data on it and the sd card as it was formatted as internal memory.
The second had to be replaced as the display became corrupted in the first five minutes of use.
Worse was to follow with Alcatel updating the default launcher with "Joy Launcher - live wallpaper", which removes useful features of the factory launcher, and substitutes them for an extremely annoying smiling mutant Octopus spider thing that hangs from a thread from the top of the home screen (no I'm not kidding), plus according to google play and several reviewers now contains advertising, but I removed it and disabled updates before seeing any ads myself because it was so infuriating. the new launcher seems to be aimed at, and possibly even written by two to five year old kids.
it has to be the biggest load of rubbish I have spent 5 visits to o2 i 2 days and the blurtooth still does not work Buy at your peril
It looks like there are two memory options. 4GB, giga byts, of storage with 512MB, mega byts, of working RAM, random access memory. Or 8GB, giga byts, of storage with 1GB, giga byts, of RAM. If you think of storage as a book case where your books are stored. The bigger the storage, the books you can keep. RAM is like the table where you read you boos at. The more RAM you have the more books you can have open on the table at the any one time. The processor speed is in GHz, giga herts (billions of times per second). This determines how quickly things can be done.
Wow!, 19 Aug 2017512Mb of RAM wow! Not many Apps can be installed with that so why try to make out it's got 4Mb?It doesn't claim to have 4GB of RAM. RAM stands for Random Access Memory which is basically the speed of the operating system. 512mb is pretty slow by todays standards.
4GB is the size of the internal storage (including Android and pre-installed apps). Unless it has the capability to use USB storage there won't be a lot of room to store new apps.
The 4GB storage version has 512mb RAM
The 8GB storage version has 1GB RAM
Sugardaddy, 01 Aug 2017Built-in storage is 2GB, not 4GB. Too little for all todays apps.it has 4gb, just 2gb is used up by android.
