Google Android

Google has released the Android platform distribution numbers for the month of May, revealing that the latest iteration of its mobile OS - Marshmallow - is now powering 7.5% of all active Android devices worldwide.

That's quite a notable jump for Marshmallow given that its share was 4.6% last month. Lollipop, meanwhile, held on to the top spot with 35.6% share, slightly down from 35.8% in April. KitKat also saw a decrease in share from 33.4% last month to 32.5% this month.

All the other previous iterations including Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Ginger Bread also saw their share dropping a bit in the past one month. Froyo, meanwhile, is still at 0.1%, taking its last breaths.

Actually, iphone 4s is 4 years old and motoG 2nd is 2 years old. In any case, you can't compare that only has 1 phone per year against hundreds of phones to develop for. If that was the case, you should only compare iphone ios updates against updates...

Why should I expect less on smartphones? They are computers as well. Windows 8 is still fully patched and supported by Microsoft so yeah, if I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, it's fine, but I still get updates. Meanwhile, we have new smart...
