AnTuTu announces a new benchmark for electric cars

The popular benchmark platform AnTuTu announced its new benchmark app for electric cars. It aims to objectively evaluate the vehicle's infotainment system's performance by testing the chipset and the available RAM and storage, just like the benchmark app on smartphones.

Along with the announcement, AnTuTu published the scores of some vehicles it tested last month. The first three spots are taken by the Zeekr 007, the Xpeng X9 and the Mercedes EQE, in that order. We can see other familiar EVs on the list including the Xpeng P7i in the 8th spot, the Nio ET7 in the 12th spot, Polestar 2 taking the 14th position and the Audi Q4 e-tron in the 17th place.

The recently released Xiaomi SU7 is also on the list, but with a lower than anticipated score. Someone already did a fresh run of the SU7 this month and achieved 957,833 points, which puts it in the fourth pace in the current ranking. Perhaps an updated ranking in June will reflect that. For the record, the vehicle runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

The benchmark app will need some time to gain traction and collect a more extensive database, and it's going to be interesting to see which brand has the snappiest infotainment system.

A smartphone and car's infotainment system is like comparing apples to oranges. Benchmarking a smartphone should tell you whether it will meet your expectations. Benchmarking a car's infotainment system, what should one expect really?
