While installing it, there is a pop up that current youtube version is not compatible and they will install the app version which is compatible to the ipad and it works. You can try it.

youtube works if you do it through the web browser, we have tried safari and it works well. the app does not work.

Bought in 2015. Battery is great in 2024, but not using it much as browser is too slow and almost no apps are possible to install on old iOS 12.x. So keeping old installed apps that are still working. Youtube kids is working, while normal youtube only works in browser as app demands update - which is not possible. Disney+ works, but is slow to load the app. Seems Amazon Prime video also works.
Camera white balance seems much better than super cheap tablets, but new cheap tablets has some more details in the shadows and higher resolution. Overall the photo results are better.
As you'd probably like to be able to install apps, I would suggest a new cheap tablet rather than an old iPad. But for video consumption for kids, it seems to work fine.

Ten years ! still has the original battery. This tablet is still being used daily for youtube and web browsing. Gets like 5 hours Sot at times more, if the brightness is low. I can't play certain games on it nor get certain apps like Ebay but Netflix app works. Will use it until youtube and netflix stop being supported

Anonymous, 05 Mar 2022Can this still be activated on AT&T in 2022?I was able to activate this on AT&T in 2023. It took a little while to register on the network and a reboot, but it connected. It gets LTE speeds and can be used as a hotspot if necessary. nothing newer than iOS 12 apps, but some life still in it for basic apps and games. Battery life on mine is actually very good and if left in standby, can last several days without needing to be charged. For me, worth it for the hotspot and convenience of local media playing and ebooks. Still responds to iTunes flawlessly.

Ok so the device was good 5 years ago but now I don’t believe so. It’s so outdated, there is so much apps that you can’t download due to old ios. Even suffering the net is a pain in the neck. I don’t recommend anyone purchasing this device, throw it and move on.
