Nokia phones change all the time. They get more features with every model thats brought out. SO shut up.
and please, "this is apples first attempt"
yes well you might find apple have been making computers for years now and i don't think adding bluetooth, MMS or a video camera would have been too difficult...
To all the N95 lovers out there, right now the N95 may have more features but once Apple get to grips with the market the next generation of iPhone will have everything the N95 and its successors (N96) have spec for spec.
Then it will come down to a case of who has the better design, innovation and user interface/experience. When this happens Nokia is in serious trouble because it simply cannot compete with Apple on this front unless they copy them like Windows copies every version of Mac OSX.
Vista is a carbon copy of TIger which we Mac owners had 2-3 years ago. Now we have Leopard which is even better. The next version of Windows in 6-8 years time will be Leopard under a different name and slightly redeisgned by Microsoft.
Once Apple reach this stage in 1-2 years Nokia is in serious serious trouble. Their no.1 crown in the mobile market is wobbling! And they know it is!
With the iPhone you have to look at the bigger picture, this is Apples first attempt at a mobile phone. The lack of MMS, video recording and Bluetooth file transfer is all fixable with a simple software update. It is just a question of when that update will come, which I'm sure is not too far off.
The phone is a dream to use and I cant wait for the second generation of iPhone. I used the Nokia N95 and it is nowhere near as fun or intuitive.
In 2 years time I foresee Apple exceeding Nokia in the mobile market. Apple are innovators and Nokia phones havent changed much in the last 10 years. In terms of Nokia design their phones have become the ugliest things on the market. Nokia are no longer big players its all Sony Ericsson and Samsung now.
Apple in the next few years will put technology into the iPhone that no one has ever heard of. They invented the CD drive, floppy dick drive, first with GUI on a computer, firewire, the mouse the list is endless, and they are certainly well on their way to reinventing the phone.
I used this phone for a day , than decide to sell it. Noting is special about this phone. Bluetooth cant share file , only for ear piece use. Speaker so soft. NO MMS.....Stick to others established phone brand , you wotn regret.....Apple need to concentrate o MP3 player...for phone the experts deal with it...
Best Functional Device Ever...desPITE lack of features presently.
Gone are my desires to ever return to any of my treos, Helios , Ubiquito 503, Goldfish 800, TyTn/Tilts (hacked to the gills).........
The interface and operational simplicity is plain genius and expanded upon will be incredibly satisfying to this gadget junkie.
All other models/OS's as presently known will be obsolete...with this device as the developmental template for years to come.
Gphone is only potential competitor in forseeable future.
And that is Five million in five months and stock up 130% since the Iphone introduction.
The only rating that means something is units sold and value of the stock
design, features and performance the n95 rates higher on gsm arena than the i phone. Design , you iphone boy's are always saying how much nicer the iphone looks. Not to me and especially not according to the vote's on gsm arena.
we aren't jealous of the iphone. We are just documenting that it doesnt actually do anything. The touch screen on it however is undeniably fantastic (contradictry to the awful screens on the ipods)
Today the whole Nasdaq is Down, but Apple is UP, even without bluetooth file transfer .....
Wake up, the market analysts know very well where the Iphone is leading the stock value....
@ everyone -
well the last person who put his/ her opinion i gotta agree with that cuz so many ppl brought i phone thinking of a better phone but they ended up buying a phone that they will get fed up of after using it for 1 or 2 months , and the worst is it comes with some serious missing options like bluetooth file transfer etc. ...
I would not be so sure, the Osx is now the number one mobile internet platform ahead of Windows Mobile and in only six months
SIX MONTHS !!!
This is what happens when you try to compete with Apple :
" Wal-Mart Pulls Plug on Movies via the Web
By MATT RICHTEL and BRAD STONE
Wal-Mart said it had ended the business because Hewlett-Packard, a chief technology partner, had decided to discontinue essential infrastructure for the service."
And additional Movie rental is coming to the Iphone via Itunes Jan 15th.
Good luck Nokia
