Ive been playing with the new phone for about a week. very mixed feelings. i give an A for concept and design. functionality has a lot to be desired. the icons at start-up are misleading. these are not the programs you might expect. they are web based widgets which perform only some of the program features. iCal example. its nothing more than a simple calendar. it is very locked, you cant even down load a web page to a document reader. it is a cool ipod. ive seen blogs describing the development of the device but until it matures, i say hold off.
ok ppl lets talk... i work for the company that services the iphone(AT&T). ok first of all im not saying that this phone is complete garbage, im saying that this phone isnt what everyone makes it out to be. it doesnt have a camera at all, the sim is not changable, there is no MMS, limited 3rd party programs, non expandable memory, and only edge on a phone that boost on its internet??? this phone is not worth the total monthly and outright in comparison to the S.E. W960i or the N95 which yea you will spend more outright for the phone but monthy its cheaper and you can do so much more!!! oh and by the way there is no stero bluetooth(A2DP) on a phone that also boost on its music!!! please feel free to tell me what you think about what i said...
"This doesn't have MMS capability,"
That is not 100% true. It can receive an MMS. If people understood this feature, they'd know how it's possible.
"NO video capture - ONLY playback,"
True. But, Apple has approved certain programmers to add features. So, it's a matter of time and requests for such a feature.
"No Keyboard, No spell check,"
It has both.
It's a matter of time and requests.
"doesn't support JAVA,"
That is a security issue. So, get over that. Apple fans don't want the woes of Microsoft.
"Can't do Custom ringtones,"
Those are coming from Apple iin the first update.
This doesn't have MMS capability,NO video capture - ONLY playback, No Keyboard, No spell check, No Games, doesn't support JAVA,
Can't do Custom ringtones, Internet is only edge - wich is consider dial up(sucks). I think this phone is not worth 500 or 600. Maybe $50 bucks to help apple. =P
so any how when will this phone reach the middle east, and what's the deal with it not supporting MMS ?
and it costs about $499 ,thats the retail of the 8gb or 4gb ?
I am not sure why people are so critical of this phone. I reviewed smartphones for three months, and chose the iPhone. I could not be happier with this phone. It is well made, has better than average battery life, and has the finest interface ever to come to a mobile device.
I am not just an "Apple Fanboy", although I am starting to see why people drink the Kool-Aid - Apple products just work. After comparing this to the Nokia N95, I decided I could live without a 5MP camera to have a phone that is thin enough to carry in my pocket.
So, for me, not a single complaint. I am completely happy with everything this phone does for me.
I would really like to get the views of other people about the iPhone, please take a look at www.iphone-wheredoistart.co.uk, this is a non comertial site, all I want is peoples opinions. Thanks.
Next version will be better, but this one is full of defects. iPhone fail big time with their new phone!
It fell in the sync : Those are the advantege options that iPhone offers to Mac users. Sync directly to iTune, iPhoto, Address Book, and surely iPhone software update directly from your Mac after you plug the iPhone in and/or via the Bluetooth. I totally that editing photos on a big screen with a proper software is much easier than to do it on PDAs.
I also think that iPhone has compitability with PCs, maybe less ability of automatic sync.
Iphone is not only a mobile killer but user's money killer,to change a battery cost 30~40 us doller! and lost all data inside iphone!???? Can you believe it??!!! I can't believe it !!!!!!!!!!!
Less software support and much money...How can I have fun from iphone ,music, music or ..music!? Windows mobile have many software to support,no limit!!!!
this just shows that the iphone is a half baked product...full of defects and heats up like an oven while in use...
i suggest that people stick to the professionals, the companies that have perfected the art of making mobile phones and not some pretender who doesnt have street cred building excellent phones...
Apple, go back to making ipods, imacs and powerbooks...
thats your forte...
"what is wrong with all you haters or lovers of the iphone. it's just a toy, are u all back to your kindergarten days?
for the bucks, macbook is a better value."
Yes, so some people like toys - and there is nothing wrong with it. I'd suggest the for the person who wrote that to read, 'All I need to know I learned in Kindergarten.'
I surely don't suggest using a Macbook as a mobile phone. Someone might think the person never made it out of kindergarten. ;-)
"...30gb - 80gb..."
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm waiting for one made of solid gold and a 25mp camera. ;-)
People are complaining about the lack of editing functions. Well, there is a reason for this. The iPhone syncs with iPhoto. If people understood how iPhoto and the "Library" in a Mac works, they would also understand why Apple did this. It is, partly, a sync and file-name issue.
To be honest, for me, it's a bit combersome to edit a photo on a PDA. And, on a screen that size, it would kill the battery in a hurry.
Well I feel dat dese phone 4 now are OK, but I am actully waiting for the Iphone with high memory i.e. 30gb - 80gb are launche,
These phones rock!!!
Someone asked if it will work in Europe.
Sure, it will work the same as any four frequency (Quad Band GSM) phone. However, just like with T-Mobile and AT&T phones, certain features won't work. So, expect for the phone and SMS funtions to work as always. However, visual voice mail and Internet e-mail is a function of the AT&T network in the USA. So, unless a carrier in Europe is set to handle these features and has an agreement with AT&T - those features won't work. E.g., some carriers in Europe do not have agreements to relay MMS.
E.g., most carriers have an agreement with RIM Blackberry and the service is not interupted in most countries. However, this is an extra charge from T-Mobile, AT&T, and now Verison.
