It is an iPod with phone features slapped onto it with few other nice amenities; like video being the amenity in the 5th gen iPod.
But i'll wait for the 6th gen iPod.
jozefe bergomi: No it wont. It is SIM-locked to the AT&T/Cingular network. So the security needs to be cracked first and it is not (yet).
hi there ,if you buy a iphone in US and bring it to japan,it will works there, all you must do is register it in japan,in some country the registeration is free but in other you must pay for it,the mony that you pay is very low,so no prob ,yu should go for it!
This is Apple's first try! It's a very good first try (in my opinion). There are other phones with more features. But none had a start like this. And, most copied each other.
I keep seeing post that request a GSM Arena review. Hmm, there are many honest reviews on the Internet that I've read. Also, GSM Arena will have to test it in the US and only with AT&T.
I have a Blackberry 8800 with T-Mobile. It works without failure.
I just got the iPhone (Could not help myself :-)) The signal is clear and load in my area, just as good as any other phone I've used with GSM. A bit over priced; but remember a 8GB Nano is 250.00; and the price has remained the same. So, I don't expect Apple to lower the price of the iPhone for a while.
Purchasers, go to an AT&T store and get a pre-approved code.
if you have a Macintosh, an Apple I.D., and a .Mac accont...it takes about five-minutes to activate.
My iPhone is sending e-mails to and from without any error. SMS are working perfect. And, since it has an e-address, it can receive a MMS from T-Mobile or Verison; don't know about Sprint.
To prolong batter life, push the standby button after use -- turn the screen off.
People asking questions: Go to apple.com and watch the 20 minute video; or download the pdf manual from AT&T. It's all there.
This is a big screen iPod with mediocre "smartphone" functions... Good attempt but I'll wait for the next iPhone versions... I don't like this.
for a phone to be charged at that amount you think it would be 3g compatible. i think its stylish but nothing special regarding the features.. check out the W880 or K800 s/e can not go wrong
so finelly most anticipated iphone is arrived.Apple is a pioneer to make a ipod,no dought about that, but when the thing is comeing on to make a good well balanced phone, apple is failed here.big size,no keypad, worst camera,no video recording,no irda(not bothered),no hscda,no 3g,its worth buying this phone?.
It's an amature phone. If it wasn't apple they wouldn't have sold 750 thousand copies in 2 days.
for that price i ll never buy it you cant even send a sound file via bluetooth . for half of the price iyou will get a phone with much more features
hey, dude, iphone is the best phone i have ever used. its functionality is great. Safari which functions the same as internet explorer works great, it is intelligent, reactive and smart. Besides, i phone is an icon and it definitely will be the revolutionary. future is iphone!

i have the n95 and i want to buy the iphone because it is something new. the iphone is cool except for the sucky 2 meg. camera. the iphone is going to beat nokia in many ways.
Boys let me talk! When i woke up today morning saw my beautiful wife holding the Iphone > Apple made my day.Be it a toy, a phone or whatever ihone is a wonderful gadget to own.
@pJ0x exactly... nokia bums can install some half assessed stuff, you perfect iPhone people cannot-, not because it is halfwhatever, but because Jobs don't allows you to - you can't run 3rd party software on di best fone eva... or the worst one;
@USA#1 Yes we are, haters we hate being ripped off, told lies and brainwashed with (apple) commercials aimed at people with IQ
you nokia bums should take your kid on multimedia phone and thoughts elsewhere.Go and install some half assed symbian RAM management program.
So I took a leap of faith and I bought the iPhone. I am not really an apple fan and my Nokia N95 has served me well, but anyways I decided to try the thing out before forming an opinion. And I realized why Apple is going to win the mobile phone war. It's not about the features, it's about the user experience. There's no phone that has the same ease of use as the iphone, and I think that is what appeals to 99% of all consumers. Most people don't care about their phones being loaded with features. That's the reason why the Nintendo Wii outsells the PS3 5 to 1. It's obvious that the PS3 is a superior system in terms of capability, but the user experience is so much better on the Wii, and that's what most people really care about.
Ther are many features I would like apple to add to their phones in the future, but it is a great first phone. Signal quality is better than expected. The way I look at it is its a really nice ipod that can also make calls. On paper, it seems like some pretty phone that lacks a lot of features, but after day to day use, I prefer it over my nokia n95. I do miss the 5 MP camera abilty of my nokia though :(
