This is Apple's first cell phone, consider that. In some people's opinion, it lacks features. This is the company's pass into a completely new industry! According to the specs, it willl be a great phone, but don't take anyones review for it, when it comes out purchase the phone and see for yourself. If you cannot afford it, then you should not be bashing a phone that you could not even potentially own.
I never owned an ipod, good thing I didn't buy one, it would have been a waste of money since I have an mp3 player on my nokia N80 and it matches up with this iphone plus it has 3mp cam, etc.
in responce to Kamals comments, i can only assume that the spec of the phone wasnt important?? if you look they do list MMS for example, and at the end of the day its yet to be releaced. Network Rep has said that it will be out in Oct allegedly. as for Cingular. theyr just being theves
Oh, come on guys. For those who hates Apple or iPod or iPhone, I just want to say this :
1. Whatever you say, iPhone will sell well, very very well.
2. iPhone will be more easy to use compared to any other phones. Apple is ALWAYS about easy to use.
3. 3G is just a matter of time.
Enough said. :)
this phone is too expensive for no special features plus it is going to be 600 dollars with a 2 year contract with cingular. thats too much for a service like cingular and a phone like that.
If it is as awesome as all Apple's other products then I'll be the first to get one...whenever it arrives in South Africa...hopefully before I die...:)
lots of lacks in this phone i see.
1. no memory card
2. no mms
3. no 3G
4. no hsdcd
5. camara of only 2mp
6. too expensive
man you need to get more stuff into this phone.
I think that a lot of people will think that they will just launch this version and that's it. NO!!! WRONG!!!
They are going to apply the same strategy like the iPod, they will evolve the product and of course they will diversity the offer, more colors, 3G etc.
The iPhone is here to stay and I'm personaly glad of it.
this is the most awesome cell phone
it`s great i hope that i could have it some day!!!!!!!!!!
a phone like this should be targeted for people like myself. Unfortunately it has a couple to a few shortcomings. the first is NOOOOOOOOOOO GPS are you kidding me? NO 3G. Maybe not that important but iphone come on. The last is the push to talk feature. The most important to me is the GPS. I have the hp hw 6515 for over 1 1/2 years just b/c it has been the only phone on the market with GPS. Blackberry 8800 BIG contender.
Steve jobbs needs a better job this phone is copied by bits and pieces of other exisisting good cell phones. You cant talk to nokia and samsung they run it.
i dont know why there is so much hue and cry about 3G, not much people are gonna make good and proper use of it. though the single most important factor of this phone is Mac OS X, if the apple is opening up a way to write custom programs for this baby. its hit among common users and even programmers. the creative possibilities with this phone would be endless.
Havent you learned something with the ipod? its not about 'what it does', its about 'HOW it does it'.... Iphone is gonna win on ease of use.
Lets face it - the UI looks nice but as for being "5 years ahead of everyone?" cmon.
The N95 has GPS, AGPS with built in Maps, WIFI with a browser, 3.6 MM jack, USB 2.0, 5.6 Mpix camera with Carl Zeiss optics, A full ITUT keyboard (all touch is good for USA where people are used to using two hands to text on their blackberrys but in Europe and Asia where people like to sms without even looking it will not do as well). Support for WMA, WMDRM, AAC, eAAC+ (even the N91 had that) - suppport for many music formats not just Fairplay and MP3s (Apple are control freaks that make Microsoft look like Ghandi). 3G, HSDPA, etc etc...
That doesnt seem like Nokia being 5 years behind to me....Jobbs is the great hype artist and the marketing will sell iphones no doubt but let's see if users are willing to accept the fact that dropping their iphone from waist height on concrete ONCE will trash it. (N91, N80 etc were reportedly dropped 300 times on concrete to test the phone...do that with an iphone).
time will tell
