the model you're looking at is basically for the americas, a carrier named Cingular will offer it exclusively when it ships by june of this year.
it will see changes and upgrades before apple introduces it to europe this christmas and asia in spring 2008. apple will also likely have a separate widescreen video iPod without phone functions for the christmas season.
in the americas 3G is not very prevalent. of the two gsm carriers only one has it and they've just started building it out so it's no real loss for them. T-Mobile in america has no 3G what so ever.
now the cdma american carriers have lots of 3G coverage but alas, this is not cdma.
"Is there a model coming out soon with 3G?"
by the time it hits europe later this year, it will likely have 3G. you must remember that apple upgrades very rapidly and iPhone will be no exception.
Good phone but for "other" models look at this website
1st post! wtf?! no 3g? 2 mp only? they should have added tactile feedback on their touchscreen. other than that, it's cool!
i think this pocket will hit all i-mate
pocket pc and all pocket that run on windows ce . for sony ericsson walkman may be will not face a bih problem because its small size and its own fans.

--- Built-in Advanced Sensors ---
iPhone’s accelerometer detects when you rotate the device from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page or a photo in its proper landscape aspect ratio.
The proximity sensor detects when you lift iPhone to your ear and immediately turns off the display to save power and prevent inadvertent touches until iPhone is moved away.
An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the display’s brightness to the appropriate level for the current ambient light, thereby enhancing the user experience and saving power at the same time.
please tell me what else can do this.
"THOSE NEGATIVES WILL BE A DEADLY FORCE FOR THIS SO-CALLED PHONE!
Hopefully mp3 player will work ok!"
lol, coming from somebody named "Nokia." no wonder you're upset since your piece of crap internet tablet has just been outdone.
great looking phone..gotta love those apple designs..one question though ..I know it says google maps ..but that doesn't mean gps does it? is it an external gps receiver needed or does it use the mobile network for navigation?
It's OK, but I'd like to see a review of it.
The fact that it has MacOS X on it is pretty good, but I'm worried about its stability and compatibility most of all.
I'm also worried about the screen. Not quite sure what to do with a touch screen and how to protect it...
I think people expected something different...
What I am looking forward to seeing is the screens durability. After 6 months of smudging the screen with your fingers will the screen still be usable for watching videos?
