The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our everyday lives, but it might also be an opportunity for some to snag a discounted phone. The outbreak has resulted in reduced sales of the Apple products, which has affected the Cupertino-based tech giant's revenue.
In a bid to boost sales and recover from financial losses, online retailers in China are offering heavy discounts on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
Suning is selling the 64GB model of the iPhone 11 with a discount of CNY500 ($70/€65) at CNY4,999 ($710/€650), whereas the Pro version with the same amount of storage is down to CNY7,499 ($1,060/€980).
Other online retailers, including authorized Apple resellers on TMall, are offering similar price cuts on the iPhone 11 lineup in China.
Meanwhile, Apple's partners in the Taiwanese supply chain are expecting a stall in production in Q2 2020 because of the reduction in demand since people prefer to spend their money on essential items in the current situation. The new discounts are aimed at clearing some of the existing stock and avoiding that, but it's yet to be seen if it will be enough.

This is the first wave of effort to liquidate 4G phone stocks. The 5G smartphone sale has been picked up substantially since early March due to "compensatory consumption".
