Where as if you are more interested in surfing the net go for the iphone using the net is extremly easy and user friendly.
Palm Pre OS is based on WebKit too, and uses Widgets not full blown applications...

WinMo is bloatware c**p, now matter how much it's dressed up it's still like putting lipstick on a pig.
I remember Steve Ballmer saying at the launch of the App store that WinMo had 18,000 applications available the App store passed 27,000 the other day and is adding more, 800,000,000 downloads in the 8 months since it opened it's turning into a $billion a year business, $700 million to developers, $300 million to Apple.

... moreMobile Observer, the Palm Pre OS is piggybacked on one that dates back to 1991, as is Android, and was designed for desktop computers. The iPhone OS is fundamentally older than that being a derivative of unix->Mac OS X. Old OSes designed for one type of computer and having mobile functions layered and piggyback on them.
Symbian, however, is develop from EPOC32 which is a dedicated OS for mobile devices introduced in 1997, containing superior multi-tasking and efficient use of minimal host hardware.
It is still the best small device OS and it had touch interface in 1997. Yes, 1997. 5,5MX, REVO.
I hand tested speed of the Iphone with the 5800... (although a restive screen, slower cpu, half priced) the 5800 was faster once pressed but the Iphone was ziggy zaggying graphics before coming up.

people who say iphone 3g is a good phone basically fails. sadly i doubt any iphone user has realized they are pretty much a dumb/dimwitted user compared to a winmo device user due to the fact that an iphone basically has no extra functions besides the apps and its basically all preset for you and all you do is tap on a few things to get things working while a winmo device requires the user to install applications and and set up everything like a mini portable computer. Winmo requires more brains and ends up to be quite the more powerful device. if you let a iphone user use a window device , 99% of the time they fail cuz they are basically too dimwitted to understand how a winmo device even works. iphone users ,you fail cuz your too dimwitted , winmo ftw.

Whoa, I was just catching up on the last 5 pages of posts and the 5800 is getting absolutely axed. One post that caught my eye was regarding whether to get an iPhone or a 5800, and people were offering their various opinions and someone said that the 5800 was just a trial device for the N97, and I think that is the defining point between Apple and Nokia. What's the point of releasing a phone that you know you yourself as a company are going to outdo?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Nokia phones. Admittedly they make some brilliant ones and I sell a lot of them everyday. I just bought on for a friend a few minutes ago, but what gets me is they have a massively loyal fanbase, yet they continually push rubbish phones into the market for short term sales gain.
Nokia didn't get to where they are by mere fluke, they did make the best phones, yet they are throwing it away when they need to be trying their hardest.
I don't mind waiting for iPhone OS 3.0, or a new iPhone for that matter, because I am confident Apple will work at it and keep working at it until it is perfect. We are in an age where we want everything right now, and aren't willing to exercise some patience to get what we need.
The band Muse are currently recording a new album, and they are refusing to set a date to release it. They want it out this year, but they know if its not ready, then they won't release it, because they owe it to the fans to not make rubbish music for the sake of 'nowness' and I think Nokia needs to adopt that policy as well.
Lol, I guess I've gone on for a bit of a rant, and I know Nokia will probably never see this post at all, but meh, now we shall just wait and see what the N97 brings us.
Sir Josiah
Admittedly, the N97 hasn't been pushed out, and is being kept until perfect before releasing, but there seems to be an air about the whole matter that it will fail again. *Shrugs* I'm not going to make an opinion til I use one for myself.
Mm, 27 Mar 2009Ifans always sacrifice little things to buy iphone!
Fm radio is great to have! When you are... moreWell, you win some, you lose some. I don't know of any phone out there that has every possible feature imaginable. It's all about what features really matters to you. As for you, since it seems like you cannot live w/out FM radio, then the iphone is obviously not the phone phone for you. Honestly, I have other better things to do w/ my iphone than listening to FM and customizing themes and ringtones. As for its 2mp camera. It's really enough for me. I always bring my Canon camera with me, either in my car, or in my bag, but honestly, for random fun photos, the iphone's camera is good enough for me.
If you compare the iphone's home screen and the N97's widgets, the iphone has 20 apps just on its home screen. That is way more than the N97's, so I don't know how the N97's widgets can beat the iphone's. If you think that OVI is good, sorry, but it is nothing compared to the Apple App Store. Nokia Maps is not really a great map app. I know because I used to have the N95, and it was a pain to use compared to the great google maps on the iphone. W/ 3.0 OS, app developers can now develop turn by turn gps. So I really cannot prefer the N97 over the iphone. I think if you're the type who prefers a hard qwerty keyboard, loves listening to FM radio's ads, regularly BT files to every one you know, and loves customizing themes and ringtones all day, then that would justify your preference for the N97.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuj !! bah...
Anonymous, 27 Mar 2009When i go and buy an iphone 3g
i well tell him give me an "iphone OS 3.0"
or what plz help ... moreWith the operating system updates you plug your iPhone into your computer and iTunes will update it for you, the iPhone OS 3.0 update will not be released until June, Apple released the SDK (software developer kit) and a beta version for testing the other day.
The beta version puts an iPhone into field test mode (can't be undone) and may have bugs so it's not advisable to use it.
