It's also for internet web browsing, and that is what it is being used for mainly for the iphone. What's sad are those people who goes crazy over 2ndary video and don't use it at all.

Video call quality is rubbish, it's a total waste of time.

3G web browsing and email retreival is a different story.

3G also introduced the ability to take a call while staying connected to data.

Video calls are only a very small and unnecessary part of what 3G offers.

The iPhone 3G IS a 3.5G handset.

3.5G means the speed of the network which allows video calls to be made but this is not the only reason for having high speed data.

It is probably one of the least used features of 3G networks.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970My advice for you is to go to an Apple retail store and check the iphone out. Unfortunately, I don't think there's such a thing as a Nokia retail store where you can demo Nokia phones like you can with the iphone in Apple retail stores, lol, not here in the US at least (I don't know where you're from).

So yes, play around with the iphone to see if a touchscreen is something that would be fun for you.

If you are thinking of an unlocked iphone, get the sim unlocking card, and not the jailbreaked one.

I am trying to figure out whether I would like the the iPhone or the TouchPro and so have been reading a lot of reviews on the specs etc lately.
All of these note the lack of flash from websites when comparing them to the TouchPro which uses window's mobile and does read flash for movies/videos/adware.

Is it a dealbreaker for me? Not sure.

The truth is that most of you in here who call others "haters" because they point out the flaws of the iphone really need to grow up. Your english is horrible and I get the image that a 5 year old is typing. It's an electronic device. Everyone will get what they want and if it bothers you when others "dis" this phone, it's because you bought so others would like you or be impressed. I'm not looking to impress anyone other than myself with my purchase.

If you like Apple computers and operating systems, if you dont' want to bother with tweaking, then you'll get the iphone. If you don't mind having to download apps or do a little tweaking in the phones system, you'll get a WinMob phone.

Another consideration is the "EDGE" network. If you don't plan on leaving a major city, then this won't matter to you. I have had Sprint and AT&T network devices for my laptop and I have found Sprint to give the better connection when I'm in the middle of nowhere. On the EDGE network, i can't play games online very easily (and i'm talking pogo or yahoo games here) and my connection drops often. This was only a month ago. I never had these problems with my Sprint connection and am wishing I stayed with it.

So if anything keeps me away from this phone, it will be AT&T, not Apple.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2009iphone does not have a flash player, it can play youtube videos but thats as close as it comesyes it does have a flash player. try watching the news.
the first iphone (2G) does not have. it is on news. its connected to internet and browse the national geograpic website, the chitah photo did not appear and a pop up "download the flash player" appeared on the screen. but when iphone 3G was connected the to same website, the photo appeared and no pop up to download flash appeared.
iphone 3G is more of an internet device than the iphone 2G, it will be use in net browsing more, that is why they installed a flash player.
