david, 28 Nov 2008I work for Telstra as well.. haha... I reckon Optus's management is better than Telstra... so ... moreAustralian plans are crap in general, they just do not provide enough data, at least it's better than a few years ago.
Vodafone here, I smash the data every month and use about a quarter of the calls.
The network is good with very few drop-outs or issues that Americans seem to complain about.
I work for Telstra as well.. haha... I reckon Optus's management is better than Telstra... so the price $729 + $80 (unlocking fee) = $809 for iphone 8gb, right? I did ask Optus store few weeks ago, they quoted me $1029... -_-"""

For an 8GB on prepaid its $729, and for a 16GB $849. It's the only way to get one without going on a plan. But that's only on Optus.

Grabber, 27 Nov 2008As a phone the iphone is useless they have even put the aerial in the wrong end of the phoneActually the 4 aerials (GSM, GPS, Wireless HSDPA) are built into the circuit board, this was why they use a plastic back on the iPhone 3G as a metal back would interfere with them.
The iPhone section is over there ----->

You can see them on a 3.5" screen and zoom them using two fingers.
I can watch Live TV streamed from my PC on it.
I don't have to play ghey Java games on it, it has real 3D games, which because they are so big would bring your puny N-series crashing to it's knees.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970David,
The only way to get an outright iPhone in Australia is to get one on a plan or get a jailbroken one from overseas. Honestly, it's not worth getting one from overseas though, way too expensive. I'd reccomend either Telstra or Optus. Optus have better deals, but Telstra have better coverage and speeds with Next G.
Have fun dude.
