Fact of matter is, this phone is total crap, no really, it is. I mean, no MMS, no copy-paste, no autofocus, no flash, poor calling reception, no expandable memory, poor battery life, no keypad, not even a removable battery lid? Honestly, this phone is one of the worst phones on the market today, user interface is not all people, especially not since the phone cannot even be used without smudgeing the screen with your fingers. Wow, having to rub your phone against your sweatshirt every five minutes is really innovative, really. Do your self a favour, get a clue, get a life, realise that there are alternatives FAR superiour to this technoligical waste of space, and buy yourself a phone worthy of using rather than toying around with. Try Nokia, Blackberry, or even HTC, Samsung or LG, but not Sony Ericsson, they're just as bad, if not worse. If you already bought it, well, congratulations, you've been ripped of by mr. Jobs himself.

Can everyone stop misinforming people about the GPS!

Yes it does have a GPS chip in it, but it is USELESS without a DATA PLAN because the MAPS require that you have acces to the internet.

Most popular solution still at the moment is Nokia Maps. You can install the MAPS in the MicroSD or Internal Memory, and it is FREE.

Again, the iPhone is a great phone, it just really annoys me that there are people who use GPS over WiFi (LoL) and still think that this is a Multi-Tasking Smartphone (one that can't use copy and paste, nor easily switch between two simultaneously running programs at the same time, dissapointing considering the hardware can support it).

FACTS people! Stick to the facts!

This is a great phone, a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Yep, the GPS is hardware based and not carrier dependant and will work with any carrier or even over wifi.

Unknown, 14 Nov 2008Does the GPS work without any data plan? For example if I buy an unlock one from ebay, not fro... moreyes, gps works without a data plan. all u need is a sky. gps works through satellite signals. but if u need step by step voice navigations, then u have to get a data plan. u will not be charged for using gps, unless ur using voice navigation.

by the way, nokia n95 8gb is better

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2008i think the iphone is great, unique in its own way which. i have one question...as i have not ... moreWifi doesn't charge you data rates. You're using your internet provider's connection so you're covered for that by your monthly line rental to your internet provider. I love wifi...

apple sucks, 15 Nov 2008i had my i phone for only 3 weeks and it broke i got the apple of death so dont buy it it sucksI've sold hundreds and never seen the "apple of death" on one of them, maybe you got one with old software.

To fix it hold down the home button, while plugging in the usb cable, when iTunes comes up with the restore mode message let go of the home button.

That's how the iPhone fixes itself.

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2008My iPHONE 3G purchase was an attempt to combine the functionality of the Palm TX with a Nokia ... moreI'll admit, the iPhone speaker volume has much to be desired, but Apple gave us those fantastic earphones/handsfree to compensate for it. I don't know about anyone else, but someone on the bus with their phone pumping out music at whatever decibels is just a pain.

And if you want to show a friend a song, just let them use the earphones. Its what people with iPods do already.

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2008But for these 3 limited options(ipod, phone, internet) spending a mamoth amount is worth ?Limited? 16GB iPod touch, AU$419, there's half the price of the iphone already accounted for. And with the app store, it just expands its horizons.
Now put a price on internet browsing and email, both of which, while I'll admit, aren't perfect copies of their desktop counterparts, still push the boundaries of phone browsing.
And to top it off, a 3G phone.

Hardly a rediculous amount any more.
In Australia, a 16GB iPhone is cheaper than an *GB N95 by about $300. To me the 'limited' iPhone still seems like better value for money.

Hi, i'm from Indonesia and i have played around with my friend's iPhone 2G.
So i want to give some comments about iPhone :

1.It's an iPod with a built-in phone (Not a Phone with a MP3 Player capability).
2.An old 2MP Camera?? Without Flash and AF?? Well, the camera is not the main function on iPhone. The camera is just a bonus from Steve Jobs. But the camera is good enough i think.
3.No FM radio??? Who need FM radio?? I use Nokia 6233 but i never use the radio. So who cares....
4.No Forward SMS / Copy & Paste Function??? That's true, BUT there's 3rd party aplications which can do that. ex.iSMS
5.It's very easy to use, i love it very much.
6.It has a GPS receiver, but there's not a Turn by Turn Navigation software. Yet...
But there's a software which reveal the iPhone GPS function, it's iPhone GPS kit.
7.The Software's Free. (u should jailbreak 1st)
8. And much more...
9. And much more...

My friend who has an iPhone also has a Nokia E90. He said that iPhone is more amazing than E90 beside the E90's Turn by Turn Navigation (Nokia Maps). The E90 is quite boring than iPhone.

Summary :
-iPhone is a very simple Device. Any1 can use it. Unlike Windows Mobile. (No offense here. But i was a Winmob Fanatic since 2002, but the iPhone has change my opinion)
-iPhone has Limited Features like lack of Flash/AF, Radio, etc. But who cares... It's still gorgeous.
-The system is very fast and responsive. (u can browse 3000 picts less than 1 minute)
-It doesnt hav DELIVERY REPORT. That's annoying, but i think i can live with that.
-iPhone produces CLEAR Sound via headphones, it wins over my Walkman NW-S200 for The Sound Quality. BUT iPhone lacks on BASS, iPhone produces more natural sound than Walkman. But still the walkman's sound quality is very good and Walkman produces MORE DEEP BASS.
For Sound Quality :
Walkman : 8 iPhone : 9
For Bass Quality :
Walkman : 9 iPhone : 6.5

BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES....
I STILL PREFER IPHONE over NOKIA E90.
I Dont have an iPhone yet. But i've ordered one, it will comes on January2009. When my friend go back to Indonesia from USA.

IPHONE ROCKS.......

ps. i dont work 4 Steve Job. I just a college student, this's just my opinions. That's all. Thank you.

REMEMBER : IPHONE IS AN IPOD WITH A PHONE FUNCTION, THE CAMERA IS A BONUS.
