3G iPhone Burns User
Posted by Eric Zeman, Aug 4, 2008 10:33 AM
Talk about a hot product. One 3G iPhone user fell asleep with his 3G iPhone in his pocket. He awoke with his leg in extreme pain. It appears that the phone became so hot in his pocket that it burned his leg. Ouch.
A MacRumors reader recently posted this in its forums:
A few hours ago, I fell asleep on my couch and woke up from extreme pain coming from my pocket...
I pulled out my iPhone 3G, which was extremely hot... i then placed it on the floor, for whatever reason, my phone burned my leg, and after looking back at my phone, you could definitely see melted plastic...
Has this happened to anyone else?
What do you think apple will say?
He includes pictures of the phone, which is obviously damaged, and of his leg, which has a nice red burn on it. The plastic around the dock connector, in particular, looks melted. According to the user, "no push emails, and the 'Blazing 3G Speed' was disabled too since the lack of 3G in Hot Springs, Ark. Also, I don't think it was because [a key] was pressed, I was laying sideways with the phone side up..."
I have noticed the back surface of the 3G iPhone can become very warm. I wouldn't say "hot", but definitely warmer than any other phone I've used. For a phone to become so hot that it actually burns the man's skin, however, is far beyond typical behavior.
The user said, "I really don't want to form a lawsuit, I just want a replacement, the burn isn't severe, maybe like a sunburn."
Hi you all This is Kumar from Munger Bihar

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2008The iPhone, is awful, despite all the Apple fan-boys out there say. You can't send Pictures, ... moreWell if you really think about it. Sending pictures and songs via bluetooth is really not that important. What's important is, it's a great mp3 player and you can view pictures beautifully through its wonderful 3.5 display. As for the pictures, you can send it via email using your iphone. Apple is very particular about hackers & unauthorized sharing of music/files, and they discourage that by disabling transferring of files via BT.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970LOL, the $199 & the $299 prices are with a contract with at & t. If you buy an unlocked phone here in the US, it will cost almost $1000, so that price in the Philippines is about just right.
I HATE THE iPhone!
If you are updating from a basic old phone, you'll enjoy it.
I have been using the SonyEricsson P910i for the last 3 years and just made the biggest frustrating mistake and got the iphone because sonyericsson let us down by delaying xiperia for so long, they miss out.
The iphone lack a lot of the little things a business person needs, it has a very bad reception, it has very low sound/speaker outputs and if you use the google maps, I won't call it GPS, it's not, your battery runs out in a few hours. this toy is only designed so you can puchase things from the itune store.
A very very disappointed customer of iphone and Optus.
Santosh Kumar Singh, 07 Aug 2008Please upgrade camera 2 MP to 5 MP.at least 3mp this is no 2001
Okay, I got this phone 3 weeks ago, and i just love it.. The design is is simple, but fantastic, it is realy easy to use, and the apps are really fun.
The 2MP camera shoots great pics.
The only thigs i dont like are;
The easy to scratch back,
The fingerprint loving front,
and, the most important, that you cant use bluetooth for data transfer between other phones.
And, i just HATE iTunes.
i think that
is very expensive.
no bluetooth
only 2.0 megapixels
no radio
no mms
i know,,nokia n-95 is better. but it´s so cuge - is cool is fashion touchscreen. and people always want the funky
business week has just announced that many phone companies are seeing a drop in their sales.mobile sellers report samsung phone demand has fallen nearly 10 % and falling.the iphone 3g has become a competitor killer.another research shows that nearly 90 % of youth in the US,16-25yrs want an iphone.the sales speak for the superiority of the iphone 3G.
The BEST phone that I ever had. And I think that noone woun't make this kind of phone GO iPHONE...! U ROCK
Great marketing of this product will ensure reasonable success for this device over the next 2-3 years, but is it really the future of mobile connectivity or a reasonably advanced communications bar with a pleasing GUI with a collossal price tag in comparison to the hardware / software offerings of competitors?
