does this phone take a simcard? im in canada with fido and we use 850 and 1900 GSM and fido is comming with iphone 3g will it take simcards? or does 3g mean it will use other frequencys?

my god! 3g is all over the world now! The uk also has HSDPA with speeds upto 7.2mb! Auzzy guy you really DONT know your stuff do you! LOL

Do you guys have any idea of what you are talking about? 3G has been around Europe for about 5 years now, Sweden just signed up for 4G and will have that installed in 2011, The US are way behind when it comes to mobile life and the IPHONE is the proof that US's standard for a phone in this day and age is way below average. cool yes, good no.

Aussie Dude. Canada has 3g. Rogers network has 3g. We have live video calling which works with 3g!

Here in the Philippines, we already have 3.5G HSDPA, even on prepaid service, contrary to some opinions that we'll only have 3G by 2010.

Sorry to have to correct you, Aussiedude, but here in Holland we definitely have 3G. Vodafone offers HSDPA 3.6 Mbit unlimited internet surfing for 9.95 a month, and the other providers offer 1.8 Mbit/s for that price. No idea where you got the rediculous notion that Europe doesn't have 3G yet.

I am planning on buying the IPhone 3G from USA to use it in South Africa, my question is Will the Iphone 3G be network locked.

What's the HSDPA speed? 3.6 Mbps or 7.2 Mbps?
And answering the question, the 3G Technology is present in all Europe, Australia, almost all Latin America and in North America also, in Japan they use WCDMA (Docomo) that's diferent of WCDMA (UMTS) used in all other countries, but more then 50% of the world already have 3G networks working, I think that in Korea and USA they use also 3G(EV-DV)that is CDMA evolution for 3G.
