Philippines has 3G network. SMART Communcations introduced it to the Philippines last two years ago.
Vodafone all around the world have signed the contract for it, so Vodafone will be selling the iPhone
many other asean and european countries have 3G service not only australia.. and you can use the iphone with only one hand just that typing with both hands is faster.. im sure typing with both thumbs on a normal phone is also faster than typing with one thumb only.
I would get this phone in a heart beat if or when it goes on the vodafone network.
I had a really bad experience with O2 so I’ll never go on their network again.
I agree with those who say that 3G is available in many contries.
If I may just say 4G is for example WiMax. We have 4G in Bulgaria for two years already. Mtel (Bulgaria) which is part of Mobilkom Austria Group since September 2005, has HSDPA (which is 3,5G) coverage in major cities since the beginning of 2005 and it was the fifth operator in the world to launch HSDPA with 14,4 Mbps possibility. However we all know that the fastest end-user device is capable only of 7,2 Mbps.
HSDPA is fast, it is different than 3G and just like the latter has problems inside buildings.
Thank you for the attention.
The Iphone is horrible. I am unfortunate yo own one because I couldnt aford a Nokia n95. From the crappy speaker and the frustrating syncing to only one computer, It is a phone made to make more money for apple after you bye it. Im waiting for the N96. They can keep there 199 3g
A nice design, but Apple is become too anti-competitive these days, even more so than Microsoft. What's with these exclusivity deals which do nothing for everyday consumers.
Hopefully, the European Competition Commission are thinking about taking action against them, since they are creating barriers to trade in Europe. That will teach them!
K, 13 Jun 2008Question to the US..... Do you guys EVEN HAVE 3G capability??? EDGE is not 3G. Poin... moreTONS of counrties have 3g. UK, Europe, South Africa, Australia and even New Zealand. Just cause America might not have it does not mean the rest of the world doesnt. The iphone is brilliant, it lacks in many departments, but it is worlds ahead in many other.
japan was the first country to establish 3G, investigate your sources deeper. More than 73 countries are using 3G right now...
3G is old in Canada. Its not a big deal here We have it for some time now Rogers Canada look it up.
K, 13 Jun 2008Question to the US..... Do you guys EVEN HAVE 3G capability??? EDGE is not 3G. Poin... moreWell. We have 3G in sweden and have had it for for many years. We have 4G (Wimax) just around the corner (2009-2010) as well. =)
In Europe I think that Orange is going to sell this phone. I heard some time ago about a law suite intended by Vodafone but in the end Orange got the first hand. At least, in RO Orange will sell the iphone 3G. Also, both Vodafone and Oange have 3G coverage (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps) in every major city in the country and some major roads.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970He/she is actually from Australia, Perth I'm guessing since we share the same IP.
Anyway... I have heard so many rumours about how much it is... Some people say $199 for the 8gb and $299 for the 16gb, and some say it's that price only on a contract for 2 years with an additional plan.
But if you think about it, an iPod Touch is about $600AUD so it seems too cheap for $199
