Anonymous, 05 Nov 2009Hey you're the one who took up Bec's stupid list a lot of which is taken up by seeming complai... moreOfcourse not all smartphones have all of these features, !BUT! none of them misses that many or needs stupid "jailbreaking" techniques!
Omnia HD is absolutley the best symbian smartphone out there, there's no arguing that.
So is skype finally available or not?
Out of all those 1000000000000 apps, not even a decent voip or what???
As for iPhone, considering the improvements 3G -> 3GS, I bet not even the next model will fix more than 25% of theese issues.
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2009Hey you're the one who took up Bec's stupid list a lot of which is taken up by seeming complai... moreIf you want divx support simply install the app. You make it sound like the phone cant do it at all. You forget that samsung and nokia have the same os on those phones. Divx support can be installed. Most features are just an app install away.
I feel cheated from buying this phone. Its ridiculously expensive first of all. Secondly the app store has thousands of apps but almost all of them are useless. You only get a handfull of good ones. You may argue that apple sells the most phones, but most people dont really know what they are buying when they get this phone, they just hear that is sells well so they get it. 6 people in my firm have got the 3gs this week but have returned it. Its just not a good business phone, it lacks some of the features we actually need. People may mock nokia, samsung, se and htc but their phones are way better. Until apple makes a phone which actually has todays features, its best to stay far.
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2009Divx on the n97.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2j5oOR9JjYHey you're the one who took up Bec's stupid list a lot of which is taken up by seeming complaints about having to install applications to add functionality.
So if I open an N97 box, take out an N97 and put a memory card with a Divx file on it then add it to media player, it will just start working?
Skype works on the iPhone NOW contrary to Bec's list, it's been coming for the N97 since it was announced in FEBRUARY, so wtf's going on it's 8 months and it's still not there.
As I said I didn't have to go through half of Bec's list to find five things the N97 couldn't do, you said there were only three in the WHOLE list.
Things like maxing out at VGA video recording, just like the iPhone 3GS.
The Omnia HD does more things on that list than the N97 does therefore you should have got the better phone.
Anonymous, 04 Nov 2009Things from that list the N97 doesn't do:- iDon't handle push e-mail, iOnly sync, draining ... moreSkype will be integrated into the Symbian OS like the N900. No need for extra apps.
jbc, 04 Nov 2009I don't have an iphone yet. My friends do and they all are very happy with it. There is really... morei tried the link, but typically Apple it doesnt't play out of the box in my Firefox browser. Terrible old fashion politics, very closed minded.
And the phone has the most boring, static homescreen that even feature phones with 10% of the cost are more attractive.
jbc, 04 Nov 2009I don't have an iphone yet. My friends do and they all are very happy with it. There is really... moreI really haven't found anything "new"...
I had a good laugh about the battery...
I had an even batter laugh about mobile me that tries to desperatley immitate nokia's OVI
Laughed about the "voice control" that actually doesn't work on most BT (yes, stereo) headsets...
The "new" "just that easy" cut-copy-paste was the cherry on top of the cake... LOL, 'bout time!
Then, MMS and voice memos were a real a lowpoint, now really, this is apple advertising tech as old as vinyl discs!
"my iphone uniquley mine" how is that without jailbreaking and while decent developers are beeing put constantly in the background?...
And wondered why in the world do they hire expensive 3rd hand actors for silly videos...
That was... dissapointing
I don't have an iphone yet. My friends do and they all are very happy with it. There is really no perfect mobile phone. Just buy what suits your needs. Anyway, for those who hates iphone so much, please watch this guided tour in this website http://www.apple.com/iphone/guidedtour/
you guys can see what things an iphone can do that others can't. Thanks in advance for those who will take time to watch =)
BTVI tech, 04 Nov 2009My friend to make the iphone the best phone known to man so many things has to happen like blu... moreTo cut a long story short 7.4 million iPhones sold last quarter, how many Omnia HD's sold?
Let's see if we can work out a rough estimate.
19,000,000 Symbian phone's sold in the same quarter but 16.5 million were made by Nokia, that leaves 2.5 million with the Omnia HD in their somewhere along with all the Japanese symbian phones (DoCoMo, Fujitsu, Sharp etc).
Apple seems to be doing well enough without your advice, don't you think?
slim, 04 Nov 2009duz anybody no wen the new iphone will be coming it should be better than the 3gs then it wil... moreMy friend to make the iphone the best phone known to man so many things has to happen like bluetooth and regular phone functions. It would need a 5mp cam or above with flash, a video call cam, screen res of 480 by 640 or above, a removable battery, fm radio, fm transmitter, standard 3.5mm jack, speakers that you can hear on speaker phone. These are the things that come standard on most high end phones today. For Apple to add these things it would need to rework almost the whole Os. So maybe if this was to happen Apple's next release might not even be call an iphone. Hd recording and a Amoled screen would be nice also. But you no what, to cut a long story short the Omnia hd already does all these things and even more.
Anonymous, 04 Nov 2009n97 doesn't miss more than 3 features from that long list below.Things from that list the N97 doesn't do:-
iDon't handle push e-mail, iOnly sync, draining a lot of power:- this is a useless reason the N97 uses the same Microsoft Active sync as the iPhone and works in exactly the same way, the N97 can't use it for Gmail the iPhone can.
iDon't handle DivX, XviD, FLV native video, i'm missing apps;_ can you get coreplayer yet? is that a "missing app"?
iDon't have a real office suite, i'm missing apps:- You need to install Quickoffice the same as the iPhone which also has Docs2Go and others (missing App)?
iDon't handle VoIP support for Wi-Fi:- Is Skype working on the N97 or are you still stuck with third parties (Nimbuzz, Fring) the iPhone has Skype, Fring and others.
iDon't record video above VGA, my power-hungry cpu is useless!
That's not even halfway down BEV's useless list and I've found five I can't be bothered wasting any more time.
iDon't handle tethering, must pay extra to the carrier-not on my network (see below)
iDon't send MMS right, iShow wrong sender number -not on my network.
