Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I don't even vote especially after seeing how Nokia sheep knocked the Samsung i8510 INNOV8 down by 3 percentage points in 48 hours, that showed me how worthless these ratings are.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Mate I charge Samsungs, Blackberry's, Motorola's, HTC's and more all with the iPhone charger, because it is USB you just swap the cables.
So now instead of using six separate chargers we use one with different cables.
The N97 doesn't charge, the Nokia AC charger is set at a higher voltage than 5v USB standard.
Well, I can see a lot of people complaining or praising the iPhone. My question is how many of you really used one? This is a big question. I too used to think iPhone as an over-priced, featureless gadget which I would never ever buy. But after using one, my viewpoint completely changed and I did end up spending around 1000 bucks to buy a genuine unlocked version of 16GB 3GS. I have used touchscreen phones from Nokia (5800), Sony Ericsson (W950, G700) and LG (KP500). But after using iPhone, I found it is miles ahead of the rest. Just name a phone whose UI & touch responsiveness can come close to iPhone. None.
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2009I'm sorry but fring is just AWESOME! I use other messaging services so I actually do need a mo... moreFring is only good for messaging I have it on my iPhone, by the time a Skype call is redirected through Fring's servers the call quality drops a lot.
That's why a native Skype App is better.
Back in February Nokia was promoting the N97 as a "Skype" phone, what happened there?
Did they get a little sidetracked by Meamo when tired, flawed, old Symbian just wasn't up to the task.
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2009I'm sorry but fring is just AWESOME! I use other messaging services so I actually do need a mo... moreTry a Samsung, Motorola or Blackberry Storm charger on an N97 or generic cargers built for these MicroUSB standard phones.
They don't work Nokia has set the Voltage higher on their AC charger to lock users in to their products.
Anyway keep your piece of junk N97, no-one wants to buy them, they all want iPhones.
You know why, people are sick of rebirthed N95's.
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2009So how do you go with editing documents?
I also use Skype on my iPhone, is that working wit... moreI'm sorry but fring is just AWESOME! I use other messaging services so I actually do need a more sophisticated app... that's how it is, N97 complex, iPhone for less complex people.
"half the micro USB chargers" you kiddin? there's barely any standalone ones out there and USB = universal serial bus... what more can I say...
I saw you reinventing nokia's batteries, but now even the usb? you're plain lame!
Af for freezing and bad signal it's not even half as bad as the 3GS... but wait, you're the guy that has never held a nokia since you don't even know how a nokia batery looks like! LAMO =))))
Maybe the iPhone would have had better reception, battery, and voice quality IF apple would have bought them instead of backwards engineering them from various nokia phones.
But hey, we're on the same side of the barricade, I use an original nokia phone, you use nokia technology made by foxconn (chinese rip-off)...
So enjoy nokia technology in your everyday (8AM to 3PM when your iphone dies) life!:)
can we able to trasnfr data throw bluetooth,or sinq throw our pc over windows os,waht is the satnd by time for batt, and telll me the current price im market and perfect shop,,
I do not understand if the IPHONE 3GS is so much better than the NOKIA N97 then why the average rating for the iphone3gs is so much more lower than that of the n97 here on gsmarena ??????????????

I also use Skype on my iPhone, is that working with the N97 or are you stuck with third parties like Fring?
What's with the stupid charger, half the micro USB chargers available for phone's don't work with the N97, is Nokia using a non standard voltage or what?
Overall I've found the N97 to be exceedingly annoying to use, the menu's are all over the place, the screen is not that responsive, it often freezes, sometimes in the middle of a call, the reception isn't that great, the keyboard is annoying with the way it's laid out, the E75 one is better.
visk, 24 Oct 2009a lot of users talk about nokia vs apple. Ive been a nokia user for a long time and still feel... morei agree with you visk. I have a nokia n97 and use my old iphone 3g as a secondary phone. The n97 is the more complete phone, however in terms of touchscreen and overall 'feel' the iphone is better. The general user experience is smoother, while the n97's is sometimes blotchy and a bit slower. I do like the resistive screen, it is responsive and it's handy to be able to use my fingernail or stylus, but the screen on the iphone is faster and gives a better overall experience. Nokia are playing catch-up in the smartphone touch screen market - iirc the 5800 released only this year was their first touch screen phone. Im sure they'll get it right eventually...they're not the biggest cell phone company in the world for nothing.
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2009to be honest I do consider s30 and 40 as one and I also don't count them as an OS... it's like... moreSo you link to an article published in 2007 on a site owned by Microsoft, Apple's main competitor.
What's your point, the world has changed a lot in two years.
iphone is a good device but not the best. However,
JaiBroken iPhone is the best iphone... the features in one jailbroken iphone = 1000 other phones combined.
if you havent seen a jailbroken iphone, don't reply this comments.
apple is the phone who wake up other companys to do something now nokia making strugling and other companys too where they were before now the intoducing 1ghz processor and 600mhz processor phones

As for iPhone, the satisfaction isn't so great as the hype made around the device.
It's the strong fan-base:
And some site that are well paid by apple to give positive reviews. By some, I mean a ton. You can easily find missing features say N900, the phone with the least no-no's, but try the same for apple...
There are a lot of unobjective reviews.
And me as a person... If I like something, I rarely return back or give feedback of how "cool" it is...
I might not be the only one.
Anonymous, 24 Oct 2009We are beeing ripped because iPhone costs ~500£. Even if the offer sounds good, you actually ... moresend your complains in to watch dog uk bbc tv they are looking in to this Now..
Anonymous, 24 Oct 2009I'm sorry to dissapoint you but nokia has two OSes of wich the first one is symbian. Symbia... moreBy the way, I was Nokia user for long long years (N95 being the last) and I think Nokia's the best of what I have used BEFORE Apple, and I deferred my purchase of iPhone until 3GS because some key features were missing, but now with 3GS I have full list of features I USE (not just know about :) plus whole world of media and entertainment and productivity open in front of me. So yes, Nokia is much better than Motorola or SE or Samsung for me :)
Anonymous, 24 Oct 2009I'm sorry to dissapoint you but nokia has two OSes of wich the first one is symbian.
Symbia... moreNokia's 4 OSes:
1) Series 30
2) Series 40
3) Symbian OS
4) Linux (for Nokia N810, for example).
If you consider 30 and 40 as one, then now Nokia internally tests Windows Mobile for a release with a new phone model. But all this discussion is useless, unless we see what people who are stupid enough to buy iPhone think compared with people who are just as stupid (if we maintain objective look) to buy other phones. Because phones are for people, and people vote with their money. And this "glued together" phone wins hands down in almost all surveys. Just one:
So, if you want to count features, leave iPhone area and save your money ;) If you want to be satisfied, think before you do.
I look from human's perspective, not geek's, so we will never find common language anyway.
Prusaks, 24 Oct 2009> Nokia is not using ANY apple patents because apple doesn't have telephony patents.
You sa... moreI'm sorry to dissapoint you but nokia has two OSes of wich the first one is symbian.
Symbian't more stupid brother, UIQ had touch since p800.
UIQ went broke, symbian went open source, UIQ (sony & motorolla) joined the symbian foundation - nokia does have the touch patents before the foundation.
As for multitouch, nokia has it both on capacitative and resistive, thing that apple can only dream (steal) of.
You'll have to be more precise for me to answer futher.
As for 3GS, it might have the engine under the hood but it doesn't have the OS to run it, hence in terms of functionality 5800 is wayy above - really depends on what your needs are, if not to high any mght do.
Nokia has the S40 range because there still are people who use phones to talk, nothing sophisticated. Why make them pay so much for what they don't need.
As for the mobile computer... symbian was designed and created for that and that's why it peats iphone i every aspect of fuctionality and pattery time.
N900 is for the enthusiasts only and it's rather a UMPC with a phone.
iPhone on the other hand... it's the iPod, combined with a phone... preeety low-end.
Noone's bothered for what iphone is, it's bothersome how it's advertised.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970> Nokia is not using ANY apple patents because apple doesn't have telephony patents.
You said it all. Nokia uses Apple's interface patents, not telephony patents, because iPhone is more like a handheld computer with phone feature, and Nokia tries hard to be a mobile computer platform too. Nokia is struggling with its 4 different OSes instead, fragmented model range and wannabe media and app stores. No need to go into detail about technical differences that most people are not noticing at all.
Don't buy iPhone if you don't want to.
