In the US, it will be functional late this September at no additional cost as it would be considered as part of the data plan for AT&T.

I don't think there's any iphone owner who puts their iphones on standby for 6 hrs straight (unless you're asleep yourself).

i would like an answer from iPhone owner's only.
have you been able to send a mms from the 3gs to a none iPhone? if the answer is "yes", what network are you on and what app you did it with? and if the answer is "no" what network are you on?
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009Well AGAIN, as I have said, the battery life of your phone highly depends on how often you use... moreI can't believe that - tho mine is a 3G model granted. If i have it fully 100% charged, on standby/sleep for 6 out of an 8 hour working day and for the remaining two hours maybe surf, make a call or two, and a few sms my battery would be on 20% by time i get home. Terrible battery life, now i'm new to this phone, is this standard life expectancy or have i got a dud phone??
dear readers ive noticed that the topic of comparing the iphone 3gs the nokia N97 and the samsung omnia HD is the topic of the hour..
in the last 2 weeks i was enough lucky to deal with the 3 phones equivalently and here is my feed back ..
first of all i would like to point that the touch sensitivity of the omnia Hd is as perfect as the iphone where in the n97 its a real fail but since nokia has already announced that the n97 will be having a resistive touch screen so its not a big let down ...
but again i can assure every one that the omnia hd touch screen sensitivity is exactly as the iphone you would never feel by any difference and you would experience and failed touches the only difference is that the iphone os is far easier in browsing and surfing so the touch sensitivity is occupied more efficiently ..
my personal experience here is that the nokia N97 is not good enough to be compared against those 2 monsters so i wont talk about it..
its a definite that the iphone os simplicity would over come any other software and in my point of view thats the main strength point in the iphone ..
the software of the omnia HD which is the symbian is quite nice but it requires somehow a person whose a little familiar with cell phones..but by the way the omnia hd software is as quick as the iphone in performing commands i barley noticed any any lags...thumbs up for symbian but yet the iphone is the winner here..
the hard ware :
both phones are occupied by almost the same hardware ..
the display :
the omnia HD is equipped by a 3.7 amoled display which in my point of view the best touch screen ever made to a cell phone device its just breath taking the colors and the details are in to reality more than its a video or a picture simply WOW ..
and this is one of the main strengths of the omnia hd ..
about the iphone its display is known for every one and its definitely very good but it cant be compared to the amoled screen of the omnia..so in this one omnia wins .
the built :
both phones are almost built using the same quality glossy high quality plastic covering the huge touch screen.
here its a draw..
omnia hd is having a WOW camera if your a fan of photography go for it blindly..its quality can easily be compared to professional stand alone camera devices actually the omnia won an award about that.
the camera of the iphone is excellent for a 3.2 MP camera but its actually unfair to compare an 8MP hd camera with a flash by a 3.2 plain camera ..
so in this one the omnia wins ..
omnia hd is having a very descent stereo speakers if you thought about playing some music you would really enjoy a great quality i was really impressed by both speakers and when plugging a head phone..
the iphone is having normal speakers so the feed back is not so great ...
in this one the omnia wins but the iphone off course wins when dealing with it from the aspect of an ipod with plugged ear phones..
software support and availability of applications :
blindly the iphone beats any other software concerning the 3rd party application availability and the after sale support for updates and software fixes..
no one dares to challenge apple in that..
so in this one a flawless victory to apple and iphone..
my final feed back .
the iphone is a perfect and impressively slim and casual entertainment device and it really gives you what you want using the shortest route possible just if you are ready to give away some options.
the omnia HD : is a hefty PDA that is hiding underneath it a very sneaky entertainment device but every thing does have a price and the price is that its not as simple and joyful as the iphone in dealing with.
at last every device does have its own strengths and own weakness the buyer is the sole creature who can determine with which he/she can adapt with the strengths and over come the weaknesses its more like having a partner its impossible to find the perfect from every aspect its really us who adapt according to the given..
thanks again and i hope i were by any how helpful for those who are quite confused between the 2 hand sets ..
*the devices used were.
1-iphone 3gs white 32gb
2-omnia hd 16 gb + 16 gb micro sd ..
peaceofmind, 04 Sep 2009people, go for samsung and forget about iphone. korean's brands are better than US made. You are wrong in saying that people go for samsung and not the iphone. None of samsung's smartphone has outsold the iphone. So people obviously went for the iphone.

How did your brother's samsung hd blew your iphone 3gs away in every aspect? Because i really doubt that the samsung hd can blow the iphone away in every aspect.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009Well for people in the cold or doctors with gloves using iphones, they have to purchase and use... moreLet's look at the scenarios that you have given.
1. People in the cold wearing gloves.
Those gloves for the cold are usually thick. I don't think they would work well on any 3.5 inch resistive display. It would be ok to have those gloves on when your phone has at least 10 inches display, otherwise, it would be so frustrating that you would end up taking them off anyway. Holding a stylus with those thick gloves on would be dificult as well.
2. Doctors with gloves.
I'm a healthcare professional. You do not use your gloves to answer a call and keep that same glove on when you go back to examine your patient. You need to take them off anyway and use new ones. Also, doctors don't usually answer phones when they're in a middle of examining a patient. Also, phones are usually turned off or set to silent when you are in the examination room.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009n97 battery power, camera and video capabilities are unbeatable by iphone.
N97 fm transmitte... moreThe iphone takes decent pictures and good videos. Maybe not as good as your N97, but the iphone does it more conveniently especially if you want to quickly upload those videos to YouTube or facebook, or upload those pictures to facebook or twitter. I'm surr you also can with your N97, but it is not as simple, easy and as fast as the iphone.
The N97 may have better camera performance than the iphone, but the iphone does have the better touchscreen, better web browser, and better music player, and easy access to thousands and thousands of apps.
So it really depends on what feature you like most on your phone. I am not big on pics and videos, so I could care less for megapixels. That is why the iphone just works great for me. I can tell that you like taking pics and videos from your phone, so it really make sense why you love your N97. You'd love the Omnia hd more because it has higher mp than your N97.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009I dont need my charger accessible at all times for my n97.I can listen to music via fm transmi... moreWell AGAIN, as I have said, the battery life of your phone highly depends on how often you use your phone. If I only use my iphone to listen to music for 30 mins, wifi for 5 minutes, take 3 pics and a 10 sec video to upload to facebook, a few phone calls and a few sms, then my iphone would have plenty of battery life left at the end of the day as well. Point is, in case my iphone's battery life goes low, I have its charger handy, whether I'm at the office or in my car. It's also safer to bring a charger than a fully charged battery in your bag.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2009Thats ridiculous changing your battery doesnt put wear and tear on your phone.Besides its not ... moreYes, opening the back of your phone REGULARLY will cause wear and tear on the back part of your phone. It's nice that you are happy with the battery life of your N97. Good for you. I am very happy with the battery life of my iphone as well.
It only takes around 30 minutes to fully charge an iphone w/ 10% battery life left. And as I have said, it depends on how often you use your phone. It's not every day that I recharge my iphone at work, but in the event that I need to, I have my charger with me. You are exaggerating in saying that I am tied to a charger at work.

Drew, 04 Sep 2009I use to have the Apple IPhone 3GS, have it for only 2 months. Then the Samsung Omnia II came ... moreJust because you are more happy with your Samsung phone than when you had your iphone, it does not mean that the rest of us would have the same experience as you. So if that's the only reason you can come up with to convince us to switch, it's pretty lame. Maybe you should share specific experiences on why you like the omnia better than the iphone, so we could have a better comparison and see if it is worth the switch. Right now, you just seem like a samsung fan who wants to promote samsung by badmouthing tge iphone.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, 04 Sep 2009do not mees with nokiaAs the X>s tried to say. Eat the apple and than start using a real phone. Nokia.
Oh eat it quick because otherwise it explodes and is gone. No apple is not to blame, yeah shure

Not because of the technology. Also I would say resistive touchscreens are more prone to damage than capacitive. You can poke a resistive touchscreen hard and it will damage it. On a capacitive touchscreen, you can put a veryhard material like tempered glass and it will resist a hard poke easily.
You cannot put glass on a resistive touchscreen as this technology depends on the top layer of the screen to bend down to register touch inputs. Glass does not flex.
