I'm not an Apple fan but I compared the displays of both (I have a Galaxy S, my friend just bought the iPhone.) AMOLED is better at contrasts, but for everthing else the iPhone screen wins.
When I first got my phone I was in love with it but I'm seriously thinking of returning it and getting the iPhone instead. Honestly the Apple app store is SO much better than Android and the overall UI of the iPhone is so much better. Oh and the camera is way better on the iPhone, galaxy doesnt even have a flash.

It has the highest screen resolution ... moreyes you hit the nail on the head there,apple is all marketing hype 'retina' display isn't even scientific plausible its a much higher ppi.lol. Many people in shops are judging the two screen technoligies side by side and from regular natural distance the super amoled has much better depth,contrast,vibrancy. Steve says retina is the best so it is,as apple experts have determeined it is by showing it against a phone which a much larger screen and zoomed in almost microscopically on each pixel as thats how people read text naturally.

The ip4's retina display is the best display currently. It has the highest screen resolution and the brightest display. Samoled is nothing but a marketing hype. It deteriorates after 16,000 hrs of use. The retina display is excellent outdoors, better than amoled. Pixelation is obvious on amoled screens, especially on texts, while it's virtually non-existent on the retina display. Ip4 is truly the best.

It's really amazing how the iPhone 4's 5 megapixel camera beat the Motorola Droid X's camera pretty convincingly in a shootout recently. Amazing performance, and the HD video recorder is currently the best amongst smartphones.

We did an experiment where one group of my friends were in one room and another group was in a second room. In the first room, we gave them an Android phone, and in the second room we gave them an iPhone 4. After an hour of testing the iPhone 4 group were fighting with me cos they all wanted to buy it from me. The room with the Android phone was empty, because they all got bored and went to watch a movie lol.

Having seen the iphone 4s screen at full brightness side by side with super amoled samsung wave and galaxy s in my local phone store i noticed its definetly not as good as super amoled,noticable with less contrast and vibrancy,more grey and deep black shadows etc. Sharpness is the same especially vs the waves screen which is similar size.Sales staff agreed. Iphone 4 screen tiny bit sharper than super amoled when looked at a few mms from eyes but thats just stupidly really. regular phone holding distance from eyes the iphone 4 screen does lose out a fair bit. The screen is much noticebally better compared to the 3gs buy thats not saying all that much. The iphone 4 did lose almost all reception in death grip position. has no ui or software advantage or changes over the 3gs os.4 besides a processor boost which was badly needed by industry standard. didn't show much innovation really. Brittle feel to the design also,the high insurance cost would be well needed.

The galaxy only edges out the ip4's display in contrast and viewing angles, while the ip4 edges out the galaxy s' on birghtness, clarity, outdoor visibility, more natural/accurate colors, picture quality, and longer lifespan. Ip4's display is better than the galaxy's.

china ip4 got better performance than original one.btway it gor 8 mega pix n dnt have any isu with signal.fake one better than original one.?beside u can get 7 unit of fake ip4 for it cost.hahaha.

A few weeks ago when I first tried it out, I practially spent almost an hour at one stretch talking to a friend of mine! It was the first time I did a video call in years. I remeber back in 2004 or 2005 I used video calling on the Nokia 6680..not a good experience!
People will say, "yeah it only is available with iphone 4 and it can only be used on wi-fi." Can you imagine the data costs if it on 3G (assuming you don't have an unlimited data plan). An the speed would be slower as well, esp with AT&T in the US which is already tackling problems with its 3G reception without video calls to worry about!
Hopefully sometime in the future, Face Time will be compatible on other devices and OS's. For the time being it's only for iOS4. (And of course only for iPHone 4 as it is the only iPhone with a front camera.)

You may be right about the 5MP camera, it should give high res video quality than front camera and this is something person on the other end can notice as you only see a small picture. FaceTime quality is pretty adequate but I was expecting close to HD quality. I again like the ease with which FaceTime call is routed.

I am from the UK and using O2. I think I should point out that O2 signal on my iPhone does go up and down but I have yet to drop a call. I have spoken to my colleagues from USA and they also agree that the problems of the reception are a lot network dependent and AT&T is by far the worst to be on hence americans are creating more fuss than anyone else on the planet.
I am happy to answer any question anyone may have for me.

I guess this is common with all video calls.

The iPhone has better resolution and the Galaxy S has better colour contrast and overall size. I don't think we can choose a winner here. I say we call it a draw!
